That's not the point. Y'all pick and choose which games with 70s and below 85 80s scores to hype and play day 1, while any other game is nah it's 70s or below 85. Seen this plenty of times on here. And yes people have the right to be skeptical when one game scored 86 and has been agreed to be trash on here. A trash game is 60s and below. People coped because they didn't want to admit an 86 game was trash, because people view review scores as absolute and and best way of knowing whether or not a good is good, rather than playing the game themselves. Some of these reviewers don't even complete the game or experience burnout trying to complete the game on time resulting in being overly critical of the game because they are tired of playing the game vs. someone who can take their time and play at the pace they want.Lol the review circus for hyped games always kill me. People say "Oh but if it was ________ it would've been rated higher!" when we DO have examples like that where prestigious dev makes a game and it doesn't score high. Nintendo dropped Metroid Prime fukking 4, and it got a 78 on MC. Nobody was claiming reviewers were full of shyt or didn't play the game with the right mindset blah blah. Sony dropped the most flopped flop of all time and "Sony" didn't save it.
But when the games that are being hyped to heavens scores a 90 everybody like "See see!??GOAT!!"
We gotta be real hyped games will always have this happen to them. If GTA 6 gets a 86 I'm already knowing there's something about it that just didn't hit. There's a difference between liking a game/enjoying it and not really liking a game with high critical reception. These are objectively good games, even with games I might feel are "overrated".

dude is 200 hours in and loves it. Over half the map is still undiscovered. He still hasnt seen the dragon, gotten the jetpacks, or mechsuit yet
The IGN reviewer rushed it. Didn't finish it. Did 120+ hours and still said it wasn't long enough. And people wonder why people are looking at these reviewers sideways. Lol
This is all subjective feelings at the end of the day lol.
It’s still Metroid Prime at the end of the day so it’ll still do somewhat okay. Other games from Nintendo that got bad scores(below 80 or worse)

It has to do with people picking and choosing which 70s and below 85 80s games to hype up and buy day 1, as well as the variables that affect review scores that people don't talk about, such as bias, not completing the games, and being burned out resulting in being overly critical of the games. Can't forget people coping for games that they think are worse than the review scores until admitting they are overrated or trash because the game reviewed too high for the game to be overrated or trash according to their standards.

He also said the first 20 hours is trash, but then gets better the longer u play. The guys on Kinda Funny Games played like 25 hours and bailed...i think thats whats dropping the score. you might have to thug your way through a good portion of the first act

lol. shyt ain’t THAT bad lmao. All I’ll say is I’ve been on both sides of the aisle when it comes to reviews for highly anticipated games. I was there for The Order 1886, Driveclub, Knack etc. If I’m already hyped then fukk it I’ll still buy it(which I did for those games) and after playing I can see why it scored the way it scored.Nah i don’t give a fukk bout none of that.

the scores are nebulous and goofy outside of bonafide classiqs like ER etc.
IDC about scores too much for what I choose to play. I however find it puzzling/amusing how on this board people hype certain games, then another game comes along and issues in first game are suddenly ignored.
I keep beating the dead horse of BOTW and BG3 but its too blatant. BG3 is a long long long game full of bugs and young adult tier writing. Its battle system is initially very convoluted and obtuse. Yet somehow someway this is lauded as the best game ever. All demerits are ignored or hand waved away whereaways if this was another title game/progress breaking bugs would have nikkas up a wall ready to shyt on it.
BOTW. A upscaled wii u game for one. Large empty world. stamina meter for no reason other than to gatekeep you from exploration until you do enough repetitive shrines to get stamina. breakable weapons add on to how relatively pointless exploration is. You can beat the game in realistically 8 hours if you want to. No story, piss poor performance because its a wii u game. lots of busy work ubisoft bullshyt that we all hate ubisoft for but its nintendo so this is actually awesome now. game is a glorified tech demo
These games both are at like 96 on mc. largely seen as flawless games. Its bullshyt pr and astroturfing. BG3 was bubbling but it didn't get its real push until people were like ommgggg you can fukk a bear.
DD2 came out, I said that shyt was cheeks immediately and nikkas was like nah you wrong probably because it had a 85 metacritic score ironically. lo and behold people finally realized they'd been bamboozled.
nikkas is sheep and I will always hearken back to BG3/Botw for that because these are both absurdly overrated games and anyone who has them in their top 5 or w/e I look at them sideways whenever they criticize other titles for things that are prevalent in those games.
There comes a point where you have to just see that everything won't be for you. I never played BG3 so that's one thing but for BOTW I always said that game was super overrated and there was a lot I didn't like about it BUT, I can admit and see why someone else would love it and think it's the greatest thing ever. Like I know people who think Uncharted 2 is trash yet I think it's one of the greatest games of all time meanwhile the haters will complain about things that another game they like do the same thing e.g. praise Tomb Raider but say Uncharted overrated.
I just think the accusations that there's secretely games that are super trash but enough things happened in the background to artificially inflate the critical reception. I just see many examples where the opposite happen to where I just chalk it up to people not liking everything. There's never been a game that I feel is a 90 yet has a 70 or something on Metacritic.
I have no problem with people loving those games, my issue is when people shyt on other titles for the same things that are in those games
