Currensy & Freddie Gibbs - Fetti prod. Alchemist
only thing holding this back from being on PT2 level is the mixing

lol yall mad as hell eh. I thought I was the only one who cared about the difference.its sad because thats what I loved most about the Pilot Talks before, the sound quality was the best he'd had from doing all the mixtapes and Amalga Digital albums - I can't believe he let this shyt out like this. The fact that Search Party was fukked up, does dude even care ?
I was a fan of Spitta before he linked up with Dame(the Onsmash mixtape era was when I got on) but I think it's pretty clear that when he was with Dame, Dame made sure all of his shyt was on point from a presentation standpoint. There should be no reason to put out a release and not know that one track isn't even the finished version, wouldn't even surprise me if Ski heard it and hit him up like wtf?? Kinda wish that whole partnership didn't fail, videos, mixing, everything was on point during that run.lol yall mad as hell eh. I thought I was the only one who cared about the difference.
I dunno breh...I mean this was a highly anticipated joint that felt like it took years to make. Thats why its so hard to believe it was put out without being fully mixed/mastered. It's a shame really we'll see what happens i guess.
There are professional producers on this too. But my brother made an interesting point that I'll share. He hasnt listened but remarked that it might have something to do with Dame Dash being the man behind the executive production. It made me think...because after the Dame Dash fall out it seemed to me that outside of Covert Coup, Cigarette Boats (which were probably handled by Fraud and Alc on the engineering tip)...all of his mixtapes had poor mixing and that was the reason why i didnt really fukk with his music like that anymore outside of those two tapes, Weekend at Burnies and Stoned Immaculate. My brother could have a point...Dame Dash musta been making sure that Currensy put out a refined product.
Spitta puts out a lot of these projects out of his pocket i'm guessing so it makes sense why the engineering is subpar whenever there isnt help from a major label or producer. Even then though, I would've thought Ski could suffice
Lemonade Mimosas is easily the clearest, best produced beat and song on the album. Jahlil outshined everyone.

I'm just chiming in to say that Covert Coup was mixed by Eddie Sancho, of D&D studios fame. He's mixed a lot of classics from Gang Starr, Jay-Z, Biggie, Nas, KRS-One, Rakim, M.O.P., Prodigy, etc.
He's usually Alchemist's go-to engineer and whenever Alc can, he usually sends albums off to be engineered by Sancho.
