Means-testing policies rarely accounts for every situation and leads to division. You’d be better off just doing it wholesale and that group of people is 10 percent of the country. It’s not something to be upset about versus giving tax cuts to millionaires, which decidedly does decrease what you can do to better society.

FWIW I've already seen a lot of more conservative old-school "Democrats" who are upset that the money is going to families making $150,000 and saying that the requirements should be much tighter.

Where do you think the government is getting the money from to handout those checks? Taxes will have to go up which directly affects the family making 200k more than it does the "average" family...

So in the grand scheme of things, that handout isn't helping them, you're not achieving anything but wasteful spending...

This may backfire on them because they need the base to win primaries. It would be like if Mitt Romney moderates were trying to go against the Tea Party in 2011 when they were at their height. Angering your base and declaring war against them will lead to a major split. So if they declare war things could get really really nasty. shyt the MAGATS may split off and start their own party if they get pissed off enough. That would split the conservative vote in general elections making it easier to win elections Let it happen.

Hell, if the McConnell faction distances itself from MAGA enough they might even be able to attract centrists like Napoleon, which helps both them and us.
