Multiple members of Congress were notified ahead of US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, sources familiar with the matter told CNN.
Some members of the eight-person Senate Intelligence Committee that have access to classified national security information were also notified, sources said.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was among the members briefed, a source said.
GOP Rep. Rick Crawford, who chairs the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said he was in touch with the White House ahead of the attack.
“I have been in touch with the White House before this action and will continue to track developments closely with them in the coming days,” Crawford said in a statement. “I commend President Trump for taking decisive action and I am grateful to the U.S. servicemembers who carried out these precise and successful strikes.”
