I’m not convinced the Israel and the US want a regime change in Iran precisely because the current regime is so incompetent that with Irans highly educated population you could get someone in there who is intelligent and pragmatic still being an enemy. 90 million Iranians behind a leader they actually like? That would be scary.

Jolani is in a precarious position of having to get it right in a way that satisfies multiple factions and the fact people around him are Islamist.

Regime change is the only end to this. Business as usual for Iran was still proxy attacks and funneling weapons to kill Israelis even without a nuke. So Yemen still firing missiles on Israeli ships is acceptable but a nuke isn’t?

The military industrial complex needs to eat. There are tens of millions of Americans that are eating directly or indirectly from making artillery shells, programming drones, doing consulting for the DOD. It's America's original jobs program ever since WW2. Military is a business.

Keep in mind the DOD is the only government agency that can never pass an audit. They have failed every single audit in the last two decades, and can't account for huge chunks of spending. There are hundreds of billions from both the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war that will never be accounted for. And it's by design

I got here to Okinawa for work a few weeks back. On Wednesday, I saw a plane I’ve never seen before on base. A “spooky” plane. Little did I know…
