I have backed most of our military actions, but this one I can't. We should have let IOsrael and Iran duke it out and call it a day. Now we are knee deep in it for absolutely no reason. There is no benefit to us at all. All of my close friends arre veterans, half of them support this. The group chat was a bit firey today. One of the supporters has a daughter in the Marines. I was giving him the side eye when he was celebrating.

Well we can't undue things the best of the bad choices is full on regime change. Hope the moderates in Iran can take back control and make it most western. At least they have a highly educated population relatively speaking and have a history of western influence. Glad I am out here in Hawaii. I pray to God none of our airmen get shot down over Iran.

What's interesting is most American's are not with this attack.

The Iraqi government has repeatedly asked Americans military personnel to leave Iraq. But the US government refuses to leave, in violation of international law.

My old program pulled out of Iraq in 2023. Some of those bases were downsizing and didn’t need “eyes” as much. I couldn’t tell you the current military footprint now.

We aren’t in Balad anymore though. We as in the American military. It’s all Iraqis and Contractors who help train the Iraqis.

The military industrial complex needs to eat. There are tens of millions of Americans that are eating directly or indirectly from making artillery shells, programming drones, doing consulting for the DOD. It's America's original jobs program ever since WW2. Military is a business.

Keep in mind the DOD is the only government agency that can never pass an audit. They have failed every single audit in the last two decades, and can't account for huge chunks of spending. There are hundreds of billions from both the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war that will never be accounted for. And it's by design
