Fighting ‘until the very last breath’ as ceasefire deadline approaches
Reporting from Amman, JordanAl Jazeera is reporting from Jordan because it has been banned from Israel and the occupied West Bank.
The fifth round of Iranian missiles has already crossed Jordanian airspace, and that basically means that at the top of this hour – when the ceasefire is supposed to go into effect – Iran’s missiles have already been launched and done with.
And we’ve seen that happen in the past, in ceasefires with Israel, where parties would go on until the very last breath.
This was quite unusual, what we’ve seen in the past hour or so. Five different missile launches from Iran on various areas in Israel.
The most devastating in Bir as-Sab’, or Beersheba, where six people are feared dead and perhaps more trapped under the rubble in the building that was really devastated by a direct impact, a direct hit from a missile launched by Iran.
This is still developing in terms of what the final tally is from these different launches. What was impacted in addition to this building?
And we don’t know if the last salvo – the fifth one – has already made landfall in Israel.
But certainly, this is the most extended period of missile launches that we’ve seen.
