A White House official told CNN on Monday that President Donald Trump’s social media post telling Iranians to “immediately evacuate Tehran” reflected the urgency of the need for Iran to come to the table as its tit-for-tat with Israel continues.
The official said that Trump has been receiving regular updates from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other officials throughout the day while in the Canadian Rockies for the G7 summit.
Earlier Monday, a CNN team saw Vice President JD Vance, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine and other top aides gathering at the White House.
Trump suggested earlier Monday that he could soon strike a diplomatic agreement with Iran that would end its current conflict with Israel, saying action on such a plan could come as soon as he leaves the G7 summit in Canada.
“I think Iran basically is at the negotiating table where they want to make a deal, and as soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something,” Trump said at the summit, where the Middle East conflict has dominated discussions among world leaders.

Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst, Marwan Bishara, says Netanyahu has spoken about seeking regime change in Iran because “he’s a very irresponsible and criminal leader”.
“We know what happens when you do regime change from the outside,” Bishara said, referring to the US invasion of Iraq that resulted in tens of thousands of casualties.
As a result of that devastating war, the US lost “so much credibility and standing in the Middle East and in the world”, Bishara said.
