CAIR, AIPAC react to US strikes on Iran

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a US Muslim rights group, has said the US attack on Iran is an “illegal and unjustified” act of war that comes under pressure from the “out-of-control” Israeli government and despite the longstanding conclusion of US intelligence that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon.
The American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the best-known pro-Israel group in the US, praised the strikes ordered by Trump and said that the US “must now work with our allies to protect our troops and regional interests against Iranian attacks”.

So what are the chances Iran hits back at the US?

Trump seems confident that this is the end of US involvement.

How will Iran respond to US’s attacks?

Iran could potentially pursue three scenarios following the US attacks, according to Abbas Aslani, a senior research fellow at the Center for Middle East Strategic Studies in Tehran.
“One could be the limited reaction, depending on the size of the damage,” Aslani said.
“But let’s not forget that in addition to the attack on the nuclear facilities, this is the US’s direct entry into the war with Iran. Iran had earlier warned that they will respond to this action,” he said.
“The second scenario could be a full scale war, with Iran trying to engage in serious attacks against US interests as well as the Israeli ones. This could include a wide scope of targets, including Israeli nuclear sites and allies of Iran could join this,” he said.
He added that the third option could be a hybrid of the two, pointing to Iran’s “levers like in the Strait of Hormuz, which it could close to block the balance of energy in the region”.

Iran’s Araghchi says US attack will have ‘everlasting consequences’

In his first public remarks after the US strikes, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused Washington of breaching international law.
“The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations,” Araghchi said in a social media post.
“The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences. Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior.”
He added that Iran “reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people”.

Trump’s decision to attack Iran constitute ‘clear grounds for impeachment’

Here’s more reaction from Democratic legislators on the attacks on Iran.
  • Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer called for the enforcement of the War Powers Act, which limits the president’s ability to use the US military, saying “no president should be allowed to unilaterally march this nation into something as consequential as war with erratic threats and no strategy”.
  • Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Trump has “impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations”. She added, “It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”
  • Congresswoman Ilhan Omar said the strikes on Iran “mark a dangerous and reckless escalation of an already volatile conflict” in the Middle East” and called for “this madness” to end before more lives are lost.
  • Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari called Trump’s action “illegal” and said she will be calling for an immediate emergency session of Congress to vote on the War Powers Resolution.

Hamas condemns US strikes on Iran

In a statement, the Palestinian armed group says it condemns “in the strongest terms the brazen aggression of the United States against the territory and sovereignty of Iran”.
“The US aggression against Iran is a dangerous escalation, blind obedience to the occupiers’ agenda, and a clear violation of international law,” Hamas said.
“We declare our solidarity with Iran, its leadership, and its people, and we have full confidence in Iran’s ability to defend its sovereignty,” it said.

“Real concern” of Iranian retaliation, says CNN analyst

From CNN’s Rhea Mogul
President Donald Trump warned that the US could still go after additional targets because there “is a real concern that now the Iranians will retaliate,” an analyst has said.

Iran has said “several times” that if the US “joins this war and attacks their nuclear facilities, they will retaliate against US forces in the region, against US interests, and there are a lot of those,” said CNN political and global affairs analyst Barak Ravid.
“There are US bases in Qatar, in the UAE, in Saudi Arabia, in Bahrain. They are all in the range of Iran’s missiles, and not even the long-range missiles. And the Iranians have thousands of short-range missiles that can reach those US bases. And I think this is now the number-one question: Are the Iranians going to launch this retaliation?” Ravid said.

He added the second question is whether Iran will close the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil shipping route.

“This is another threat they made. And closing the Strait of Hormuz would influence the entire commercial shipping in the Gulf. Much of it is oil and natural gas. This will get energy prices up. This will influence the entire world’s economy,” Ravid said.

Hamas finito. Hesbollah finito. Assad finito. Russia hemmed up. Generals killed. Nuclear scientists killed. Airspace dominated by Israel. 86 year old ayatollah in a bunker somewhere.

What do they got left?
Thing is… it’s never over… again, a new head will pop up. You don’t think a young kid in that environment witnessing what’s happening, will not grow without a goal of payback. How many years has there been instability in the Middle East. We need to stop meddling over there.

Is the Taliban still in charge in Afghanistan?

How did Cuba workout?
Cuba has routine rolling power outages and food shortages because since the Soviet Union they lost their primary backer and are now an irrelevant little island that is only useful for Guantanamo, cigars and its MAGAT diaspora in Florida. If the US wanted to destroy the Cuban government they could do so with as much resistance as they got in Grenada or Haiti. Before then they were protected from US intervention because of Soviet nukes.

The Taliban hid in the Afghan mountains for 20 years until the US got bored. Every country has failed to stay in Afghanistan because it’s a decentralized hellhole of pedophiles and mountain clans. Less US soldiers died in Afghanistan per year then Chicago had murders.

Now you can ask which of these scenarios the leaders in Iran want for themselves and how many rape dungeons they’d have to set up to keep the people from rebelling when their basic needs aren’t being met.
