:dwillhuh: i forgot Lane called him that.
the way every little thing means something is crazy.
I liked Peggy and what her character brought to the table. i think/hope she will still be involved in the storylines and they didnt finish her character for good

I wouldn't be surprised if Peggy is done. I remember the creator saying something like characters pretty much dying once they leave the firm.

We haven't seen Sal. Kinsey wasn't seen until last week. Ken only came back when he was about to join SCDP. The meeting we saw where Freddy talked Peggy into looking for new spots was the first time we saw him in a while.

I wouldn't be surprised if we ran into her next year, but my guess is she's gone as a main character. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I think Mad Men is a show about Don and Peggy. Don represents tradition Peggy is change. She's going to pop back up, every other character who faded into obscurity was a side character who was just there to advance Don, Roger, Pete, Peggy or Joan .

And Don's vision for the new firm was a team that was forward thinking. And Peggy and Pete were kind of the new leaders.

But Don didn't show his appreciation of Peggy like he should have. IIRC, in that scene you're talking about he had to beg her to come, talk about how much she meant. But most of the time he's giving her the :smugdraper: or doing shyt like throwing money in her face.

And despite being someone with that new vision, Peggy had to deal with people still not being comfortable with a woman doing work for them. So despite Don's vision of forward thinking, the firm didn't stand strong enough against people with old ideas.

Don respects Peggy, but doesn't show it. They both know it.

I'm worried about Joan... she seemed rather satisfied.

Pete is a hustler, He is good at bringing in business and he know how to plays the game.

They never show how he's bringing them in though. It's always, "I was on the phone with __________ for two hours and they wanna come in."

"Guess who we're in the running to sign?"

Etc., etc. and they never show what he's doing. It just happens.

With Roger, they show him schmoozing up to people and generally swagging all over clients. There's none of that with Pete.

plus when Peggy was about to tell Don she quits, when Don told her that she couldn't be on the jaguar account and that Joan became a partner, it seems like eventhough her decision was already made, it hurt her a little bit. but she doesn't know that he's actually protecting her because he saw how they treat women and he doesn't want Peggy to come up the same way. he treats Peggy like a little sister. he's constantly protecting her but at the same time he belittles her and takes her for granted like a younger sibling.

one thing that makes me think she's not coming back is that the actress said that her tears were real when Don kissed her hand because she wasn't expecting it. she probably felt overwhelmed with emotion because it was like a real life kiss goodbye from the crew.

If Peggy leaves, its a very brave move on Mad Men. Her story was so interesting this season. Her up and downs with her man...just everything about a progressive women during the time is a great part of the show.

Perhaps they'll give her a similar amount of time as Betty (useless character now) gets this season.

It'd be worthwhile in the sense that we'd actually get a look inside a directly competing firm. Plus the dynamic of Peggy/Don as rivals would be nice.
