It's easier to land when your opponent is trying to KO you, so they loosen their defense by focusing on offense.

Pacquiao ran through Algieri though in his most dominant/easiest victory in over 7 years.

Rios was barely opening up to throw punches breh.

If he would have tried to actually push Manny back and throw a meaningful punch every now and then like Algieri did, he would have gotten lite up even more. Dude was hurt a couple times just being a turtle.

In the end it's though. Both got their ass kicked. Just one got it worse cuz he actually tried to box while implementing a gameplan, while the other felt Manny's power and speed and and just decided to go Angulo punching bag routine and play it safe.

He just had no experience against that caliber of boxer and basically was overwhelmed by Pacquiao's skill level...which isn't bad, because hell, he started off 2014 on Friday Night Fights against Emmanuel Taylor and ended on PPV against a HOF fighter

Maybe he fights Khabib next, but all in all, Algieri had a hell of a year
