He still sounds inspired, so that's a good thing. The new album with Premo sounds promising from what he said in the interview.
I'm not sure about the Lost Tapes 3 though. He doesn't really sound that enthusiastic about it. Like he doesn't really feel like there's unreleased music that he's confident enough with to release as another Lost Tapes installment. Not sure if there is anyone in his circle he trusts with his music enough to compile another one. The first Lost Tapes was put together by an A&R and turned out to be classic IMO.
I don't know how the relationship of Nas and Joshua "Hip Hop Since 1970" Kyambo, but I think he would be great at putting together a Lost Tapes 3. He was working with Nas on the album that never came out. As an A&R, he has a crazy resume that includes Jay Z's Blueprint and Kanye's albums.
Hip Hop helped pick nearly every beat Jay rapped on so his ear is impeccable. I'd be curious to hear what they worked on. He did an interview where he said the album was some of the best shyt Nas has ever done. IIRC all we know about the recording process was that they went to Alc's studio and had dinner with him at some point. Unsure of other producer names. I def want to hear that stuff. Although it's also possible he ended up using lyrics from those tracks on the Hit Boy records.
I wonder what happened, or why Nas went another direction. IIRC Hip Hop hasn't said a word since they stopped working together. I don't think it's any beef or whatever. Guru has engineered multiple tracks for the Legend Has It series so I seriously doubt it's any tension between Jay's guys and Nas.
I'm less interested in the 00s Def Jam stuff.
