Nas made no disrespectful references to Pac whatsoever (although personally, I think he SHOULD have checked Jungle behind the scenes and made sure Jungle didn’t make anymore crazy public gangsta claims) and Nas always seemed like he’s secure and honest in the stories he tells regarding his dealings with deceased legends like Pac, Big, and Pun. So I wouldn’t think Noble’s ramblings would warrant a response, ESPECIALLY if what you’re saying about him reaching out to EDI Mean and Napoleon before DRE dropped is true. Nas also has a somewhat more personal relationship with those guys that he’s never had with Noble. The diss didn’t make any waves beyond the day it was released and everyone, even Noble kind of swept it under the rug afterward. Just doesn’t seem like something Nas would bother with to drop a 16 over. This is in accordance with him ignoring disses from even slightly higher caliber artists over the years. If you’re not of the ELITE elite Nas ain’t bothering with you.
I agree that Nas never disrespected Pac, but if you listened to Noble (and Napoleon's) interviews - that wasn't the beef.

Sure, Noble was annoyed by the Hennessey line, but he doesn't have a right to since he didn't even know Pac at the time. What they took offense to was Jungle saying that the Outlawz "kept their heads down" when he and the QB cats first started shouting at down.

Before Noble lost his mind, he actually said that what REALLY happened is the "most gangsta version", which is that when Nas saw Pac/Suge and the goons immediately Nas walked up to them BEFORE all the QB/NY cats backed him up. So he doesn't understand where this "Outlawz kept their heads down" comment came from when it lessens how fearless Nas actually acted in the Outlawz version of events.

His, and Napoleon's, huge mistake was attributing that comment to Nas. When it was Jung who said it and Nas, who wasn't there, wouldn't know what really happened.

And again, I disagree about it not making waves when you had huge Westcoast cats who Nas respects all responding to it and basically telling Noble to chill the fukk out (which is what led to him leaving the Outlawz). From top of my head:

- EDI Mean immediately publicly told Noble to chill, even though he agreed that Jungle was out of line (leading to the Outlawz split).
- Napoleon agreed that Jungle and Nas lied, but said it didn't warrant the level that Noble took it to (which led to back and forths between the two). He also made the mistake of thinking it was Nas who either said it, or co-signed it.
- Spice 1 said Noble took it too far.
- Big Boi said it was insane.
- Reggie Wright said Noble was tripping.

These are cats that Nas either is aware of, or massively respects.

Cherry on top is that he mentioned Nas daughter, and like @spliz said there's two kinds of folk Nas always addresses - people who diss his borough and people who mention his mom or his daughter. I think that's basically why he said "I didn't intend to hurt you, but you crossed the line so I have to tear your head off now".

I think you're underestimating the legacy of the Outlawz a bit, and how connected they still are to both Nas and rappers he associates with.

I didn't really address it as it was happening, as a Noble fan it was CLEAR that he had completely lost his mind with this one. So I agree with you that it was unwarranted, and I agree with Nas (if it was at Noble) that he went hard on him. I felt pity for Young Noble more than anything, because I figured he was going through some personal shyt.

I actually think Noble is more worthy of a response than Jim Jones too.

I see folks coming around to my theory that it wasnt all entirely about Jimmy. He was delusional sure, but to me he didnt make it personal. This other clown was doing interviews calling him all kinds of bytches, saying he’d kill him and making passes at his adult daughter. If I was Nas I would’ve spanked him for that last part alone.

Noble BY FAR deserved a response over Jim. No contest. Son was MAD disrespectful to Nas and his family and it was out of nowhere and for no reason being that Nas reached out to Mutah and Edi before releasing anything. Noble only knew Pac for like a month or 2 before he died. One correction is that Mutah never attributed Nas to Jungle's comments. He even addressed it back then and has also maintained that Nas shows Pac more respect than Snoop does. Matter fact Reggie Wright said the same shyt. Like nikka why u coming at Nas and not Snoop? Snoop disrespect Pac more than Nas ever has. Nas has always shown respect to Pac. For @Ziggiy to say Nas WOULDNT respond to Noble just felt bugged out to me. We all fans here but we gotta stop acting like we know son personally. And like I said prior it was low-key disrespectful to Outlawz legacy to even say that considering they have had more connections to Nas and are more deserving of a response than Jim.

My comment to Napoleon is a reference to his sit down with EDI, where he says "Nas and jungle lied":

If he corrected this or made more statements after this, I stand corrected by my fellow Outlaw/Pac rider :salute:

He says here “Nas’ homie” not Nas himself, I’m guessing Wiz.. And this was from a few years ago, he’s done several interviews w/ AOD since then and has always spoken highly of Nas.

He saying Wiz and Jungle. Not Nas himself. He's spoken on it on Art Of Dialogue a bunch of times how Nas has always kept shyt real and how Nas shows more respect to Pac than Snoop.

Wiz is one the who first told the Hennessey story. And even then his recollection of events wasn’t disrespectful towards Pac.

They definitely had a right to be tight with Jungle as Jungle always tries to make Nas and himself out to be super-thugs. And I think Nas should have checked him on that issue when it pertains to Pac because thats where the heat came from. It went from everyone being upset with Snoop for ducktailing to being upset with Jungle and by proxy Nas.

Even in the interview when Jungle was talking Nas was like "I ain't know that happened.." so Nas never tried to portray any lies when it came to Pac. Jungle be wilding the fukk out he even did that bullshyt on Behind The Music on VH1.

Last thing I'll say about Noble in the GOAT thread.

I think Noble just suffered from, among all other traumas, a bit of imposter syndrome.

He was handpicked by Pac to be the 7th Outlaw, which is honorable - but then Pac died like half a year later. I think Noble always struggled with this, the fact that he both carries Pac's legacy but didn't really know him as well as the other Outlawz (and other rappers) did. And then you have the Snoop's and the Nas's who can't stop talking about Pac, Snoop out of some imposter jealousy shyt he's dealing with himself and Nas out of, I think, adoration and a deep deep regret that he didn't get to build with Pac after their short beef.

People forget but Noble was lashing out at both Nas and Snoop, he just put the Nas shyt on record for some dumb ass reason.

As for Jungle, we been known he's Fat Joe-ing every story he tells. Didn't he say he ran up on Hov at an airport and had Hov copping pleas :russ:

Anyway, RIP YOUNG NOBLE. The Pac/Outlawz/Thug Life tragedies keep stacking up and are deep.

And dap to all as our GOAT just dropped an incredible verse. I much prefer the album version over the leaked.

Yea that Behind The Music was the first time I knew Jungle needed to chill. Talking about Nas walked up to Pac and snatched him up and shyt. Crazy talk lol
