A lot of the YN’s do it now too but it’s stylistic, they do it because it sounds dope to them apparently…like literally every single bar.

Go to any studio it's basically the modern way of recording. I would say about 98% of the newer songs on radio are recorded like that. I don't even think listeners like hearing a verse on a professional song go thru straight raw. Especially on modern production. shyt gotta be clean.

He did the same thing with Hov and you can clearly see the gap now in the quality of their discography. Even tho I felt he was harsh on vol 1 & 3 and dynasty and too nice with mchg, bp3, 4 44.

I always knew I'd prefer Nas music, and that wasn't going to change - but I definitely thought Nas was going to come back with some lyrical shyt that only his fanbase would really love and that the outside world would consider Jay KING after Takeover...

Since Nas went on tour with Damian Marley. He got his sharpness back in terms of live performances. I've seen him a few times since and the difference in lines and breath control is markedly different since distant relatives. The few times I saw him live before that wasn't as sharp.

Maybe I should've made a different thread about this but I think this one is appropriate. I keep hearing a lot of people saying the older rappers are having a resurgence, mainly because the Clipse dropped a dope album and is getting a lot of praise in which they should because it's a dope album. But this "resurgence" started with the first King's Disease and never stopped.

The one thing about Nas is you can tell he works on his craft and has over the years. He probably realized that his show could be better back in the day, so he improved on it. His show with green lantern is top notch now. He wasn’t the strongest at the double time flow and he is much better at that today. If Nas had a perceived weakness, he worked to get better at it. That is rare from somebody that is already a master at what they do.

One thing I noticed about the mainstream hip hop media is that they are very hesitant to give Nas his full credit. So they will never say he started that run “even though they know he did”. If Nas got the full credit he actually deserved, the know they could never put their favorite at number 1 again. It’s all apart of the game. That’s why Nas started that clipse verse the way he did, because he knows that he is his only true advocate.

It’s a great fukking record but I really hate World’s An Addiction and Summer on Smash and I wish Triple Beam Dreams was the Ross collab over Accident Murderers

for me I do love the hitboy era, I just find 7-8 songs on LIG that have so much replay value they are always fresh and new
