Not true.

If they called penalties for half the non sense that goes on in games and leads up to BS fighting you wouldnt need thugs...shyt escalates cuz refs and the league let it...they want fighting in the game, they dont see how it makes the league look terrible, esp the pre planned fighting...it looks bad.

Nah if you called the game properly you dont need goons enforcing it,when you think about it its kind of stupid having bums on skates who have no business playing at the top level "policing" it cuz the refs cant do it properly..

What other walk of life is it ok for the inmates to run the asylum...you dont need fighting in hockey and the reasonings to have it are as absurd as the notion of guys agreeing to fight before a faceoff and then patting each other on the heads after..it makes the game look so bush league and like a circus....

If you called penalties for the stick work and other BS you dont need thuggery on knives..thats what the problem is,the officials and league refuse to call the game and get the shyt out the league...

If you dont need fighting in football you certainly dont need it in hockey...

Exactly, I don't mind fighting, but these staged fights and whole Tortorella and Hartley incident a couple months ago makes the NHL look like the second rate league that they are criticized and mocked for decades

Breh 80% of the fights in the league are staged, dudes is talking about it in pre skate warmups...
If you called the sticking and shenanigans tough and threw heavy fines and suspensions at repeat offenders youd get rid of it in a cot damn week...Its so easy to fix if they wanted to fix it but they dont want too...Were talking about a league that dont even have a proper code of discipline for things, everything is done on an arbitrary basis...

You cant even throw a legal hard body check anymore without goons trying to fight you during the same shift...
The stuff in the game now is corny and so easy to fix but theyd rather have goons that can barely skate backwards and certainly have no elite level skills to playing in an NHL game be rogue police officers :russ:

I feel jipped when im watching a fight break out and at the the guys are hugging and smiling at each other telling each other "good job"
da fukk is that ? Why am i getting amped for a WWF tussle in a hockey game...
These skill less bums are having pretend fights to fool the masses to keep there contracts and jobs

You would've thought after that Bertuzzi shyt 10 years ago (:wow: It's been that long) that the League would smart enough to have rules to faze this out before another incident or worse would happen again

Football does fine without fighting but hockey NEEDS it. get the fukk outta here. These 4th line goons who can't even play are useless. 90% of the time it's them fighting each other anyway, what message is that sending anyway? Olympic hockey and the most exciting hockey which is playoff hockey, do fine without it. Can't ignore the damage it does. Those 3 goons (Boogard, Belak and another) killing themselves within a few months and showing brain damage, isn't really arguable at all.

It will eventually end when someone dies from a fight or brawl and it will happen eventually...Someone will get KO'd and hit the hard on there head and then we'll have a corny ass hockey intervention up here like they did after the 2006 Olympics...

Yep, after Boogard's death I've been saying this, too bad the diehards and elitist who thinks is an essential part of the game (morons at HFBoards), that the NHL will have no choice to rid the game of fighting in 10-25 years from now

The only thing i ever hear is "its tradition and part of the game since its inception" which is lame ass reason to keep sumn part of the game....slavery was also once a tradition too...

I cant understand its purpose if the game is called properly, you could easily get the cowards out the game with suspensions and fines, fine the teams and coaches as well...If i was league commissioner id have those scrums after every whistle ELIMINATED immediately by simply calling penalties after every one...theyd be gone within a week....I go back to football but if off linemen dont fight DE's after they sack there star player "QB"

They why do NHL goons have to fight everytime a star player gets checked ? Corny...

You see how fighting stopped Cooke? He should have been given way bigger suspensions, and honestly maybe banned after all the shyt he's pulled.

I see new rules being put in already and more will come. Lawsuits and bad publicity will hurt the league. Having to keep helmets on, sometimes stopping staged fighting are already happening. The NHL can't ignore those players dying. Getting knocked out and then falling on ice is dangerous too, ask Kypreos. Or even Parros who was pulled down and hit the ice face first.

Montreal

this is what i was talking about

I like fights in response to dirty or chippy play, but these staged bouts and talentless thugs need to go.

Imagine being a talented young player trying to make an NHL club in pre-season and hearing your coach say "We think highly of you, but we need to send you back to the minors to make room on the roster for John Scott." :heh:
