Where is FRUITVALE STATION at?

Came out too early and got lost in the sauce. There's a reason studios release their movies they want to be in Oscar contention later in the year. It's possible to release something during the summer and still get the nod, its happened in the past and in the recent past too (Inception, District 9, Inglorious Basterds) but ultimately its tough. Academy voters don't see everything and sometimes forget about the stuff they have seen because of the shiny new toy

Joaquin Phoenix is the biggest snub.

American Hustle is too overrated, Bale carried that film. Way too many noms, Cooper doesnt deserve one

Come on, we are talking Oscars who have been horrible when it comes to diversity. All white, All Night. There's always only enough room for 1 "Black" film. "Fruitvale" and "The Bulter" was thrown in the bushes. Messed up, I blame Weinstien for putting "Fruitvale" out in the Summer, it was a fall/winter movie for the Oscar Race. Also The Director/Writer this was his 1st big movie. But this isn't a "Boyz in the Hood" situation so the competition was just too hard. "The Bulter" just got outshined by "12 Years" also.

And you think he of all people would know better. Like you said, tough competition, very tough. When you come out in June or July and you got these powerhouse flicks coming out later in the year, you're going to get swallowed up.

Is "American Hustle" that good? I still haven't given it a chance and I like David O Russell but I feel like they are showering him with Nods cause he lost with "The Figther" and "Silver Lining Playbook". I'm happy for Leo for "Wolf". If 12 years doesn't get actor, I want Leo to finally win.
