I think right now, American Hustle and 12 Years are the frontrunners but Wolf of Wall Street could gain some momentum. I think 12 years a slave and Wolf of Wall Street have the "saying something" vibe that the Oscars like. While Hustle is based on a true story, it's ultimately a heist flick. 12 years is obviously saying a lot about America and where we've been as a country and a powerful flick. Wolf is just as relevant now as it was for the 90s in which its based and they both have a common thread: Greed makes man do ugly things.
I mean American Hustle is like Boogie Nights, nice movie but not something you want to watch again on some random winter a decade from not. I definately agree WOWS and Slave have the "Message and Lesson" theme, that's what makes the movies so great. they grab you and don't let you go. It's a remind of that you're actions do affect others.

AH is popcorn and that's nice but it ends up on TBS, TNT , WGN as filler. Just like Silver Linings. That's not a knock against JenLaw, most of Sandra, Julia and Jen Aniston's older movies are the same. In fact it helps with the america's sweethart image.

I meant on my predictions for nominations, I think Jared Leto is going to take it though but it would be dope if "I'm the captain now" gave him that work

maybe in america :blessed:

I'm torn between Leo and Chiwetel as for who I want to win Best Actor. Both gave fantastic performances but on one hand, Leo deserves it because the guy has been putting in work since the 90s, on the other hand, it will be easy for Leo to pick up another Best Actor nod-and eventual win down the line. Chiwetel, this maybe the first-last time he gets a shot at an Oscar, we all know it can be hard to get work out there as a Black actor in Hollywood, no matter how exceptional you are.

I dunno. This is a tough one.

Now I have not seen Wolf of Wall street yet, so I don't know how Leo's performance will be compared to Matthew. Matthew the gawd:lawd: I mean it would extremely tragic if Matthew doesn't win, even though Leo deserves an Oscar.

Best Director, I would love if Alfonso Cuaron won, because obviously directing Gravity was alot of fukken work.

Best Actress Cate Blanchett, her performance has getting so much buzz, she will probably win SAG as well.

Best Supporting Actor, as much as I want Fassbender to win, it will go to Jared Leto, because he did a good job and he is actively campaigning for the Oscar. Fassbender just chillin back, no press nothing.

Best Supporting Actress: This one is hard as a motherfukker, I think they will give it to Jennifer Lawerence again. Harvey Weinstein is really pushing for a win for American Hustle. They really want ol'girl to be the new IT girl.
The academy usually doesn't reward new comers like Lupita like that. :yeshrug:
