Where? There are some spots out here with prices that low but its homes that need major work

Far as I can tell Atlanta is pretty fukking safe. I grew up in Brooklyn in the 90s though so my definition of dangerous is a little skewed.

If you stay in the Raleigh-Durham area where the colleges are located you'll be fine. SC? , but it still is a Southern state. You being from Toronto might skew your perception of southerners. The best economic opportunities in this country exist in the South for African Americans and that includes Raleigh Durham.

If you are really in the market for this type of home, you really can request just about anything. My home is in that price range and I have my initials engraved into my driveway. I'm in a new development as well.

Again for a guy like you who is used to a certain amount of diversity I would look into the Orlando area. Winter Park is a great way for that price range and offers a feeling of exclusivity as well.

Appreciate it man. Really valuable information to me honestly. I'm gonna be starting a high paying career in the next 2-3 years and it's my first priority, even before paying off my loans to put my mom in a house. It's amazing what your money gets down there... those homes you posted are easily 1-2.5 million dollars in some parts of Toronto. Gonna do a lot of research on this in the next 24 months or so

SC (Charleston) is multicultural, most of the white people are republican but they aren't on that for the most part. Lots of Northerners have moved down there over the years for this very reason

larger, single family homes listing for under 50K in metro Atl are almost sure to be in a bad neighborhood with terrible schools to go along with them.

it wouldn't be in an area you'd want to raise your family in, but probably would be a great investment opportunity. i have a few friends that rent these types of homes out to sections 8 tenants and it's basically guaranteed income as long as you can keep the home up to code.

you probably want to hit the 140K range and up to find nice livable areas/homes in Atlanta. which is still extremely cheap.
