I dunno about the specific people complaining, but there's a legit gripe in there which deals with the fact that Sasha Baron Cohen, AFAIK, has no clear moral center and thus no ability to stay on message.

With his skills, the impact he could make is incredible. The gun skit. The mosque skit. The georgia representative making an utter fool of himself. The Cheney expose. That stuff is money. (And there are certain people on the left that can and should get such treatment too.)

But too often his "targets" are just stupid or, even worse, just hospitable. Like, not everyone is going to condemn every random idiot that sits down to dinner with them, because they've been raised that you shouldn't be rude to guests. Some of the scenes in the Borat movie weren't even a condemnation of the people in them, they were just pointing out how tolerant some people can be even when they're around asshats. And this dumb chick looked really dumb....but so? There are definitely people equally dumb who post here in some of the subforums. Does that make them bad people?

The worst I heard was with those people in Romania that he filmed for Borat when saying it was Kazakhstan. They didn't even want to do the things he made them do in the scene, like having animals in their homes, but they felt pressured to because he was the foreigner with the film crew. Most of what they said and did was what he made them say and do, and then he twisted it to mean something else and humiliated them. I've always had mixed feelings about him since then.

If he could stay on message and focus on exposing people who are actually ill-willed towards others, he'd be doing God's work. But he loses track of the narrative because he doesn't fully have one.

90% of the previews have been hilarious but I agree with you to a point.

I’ve been trying to get my head around why he included that reality star girl. The trolling of the politicians (regardless of their party) has been both hilarious and food for thought.

I came to conclusion that he probably wanted to use this woman to highlight the vapid shyt that people buy into regarding those reality stars and that she is an unlucky scapegoat. I think it was harsh but she took it well.

he didnt do that to prove a point. i think his primary goal is just to get people to say stupid shyt and put them in weird situations for the sake of humor- not to prove a point. been that way since ali g, hes really just a troll.
it just so happens that hes able to get republicans to do and say INSANE things because they have no self control.

its definitely very mean spirited. its more obviously so in cases like the opening scenes in borat where he was being really exploitative

I haven't seen that segment, but really it's in the title. "Who is America?" Hes showing examples of the people that make up the country.

I felt like it was a pretty good look at how a good amount of philanthropy and charitable work comes out of self-interest moreso than actually caring about an issue. It's similar to the Kinderguardians sketch in that these people are willing to read ANYTHING off of a teleprompter without giving much consideration to what they're actually saying...how do people get through all of this without considering "this sounds insane." The Kinderguardians joint was especially good to me because they showed one rep actually turning him down to start.
