Was thinking this as I watched..I’m in nyc so malls are far away in like Westchester so I never got to experience it with my childhood friends, was always with a relative or something ....was it really lit like that for groups of kid friends?

Yeah, me and my friend would ride our bikes or take the bus from oakland to richmond and go to hilltop mall when we were fairly young (early teens). I saw a pic of it recently and it was damn near abandoned now.
