i have literally called that out as the best thing of this season, and i'm sure that alone is doing some heavy retcon lifting, because as i was watching, episodes 1 & 2 were bland as white rice. episode 4 was a huge payoff for trudging thru the first half
Episodes 1-3 got good ratings on IMDb as well.

These 4 eps didn't hit like that and it's not because of impatience or any of that other shyt.
Honestly it was just repetitive. I think after season 4, and this being the end, they felt like each episode had to be over an hour but really these last 4 episodes don't really justify it so there's some dead air. It's not terrible it's just a little too drawn out
I also think the dip in quality is a testament to how good season 4 is. That season had no business being as good as it was from start to finish
