Show wasnt even that great with Cavill tbh. Season 1 was ok. I bushed it after watching a few eps of season 2. And i didnt read the books or played the game. It was just bad tv.
I actually finished the game a few weeks ago and wanted to give this show another chance, but after 2 episodes of this season....
Cant do itI dont know why amazon and netflix dont bush these fantasy shows. ROP, Witcher and the wheel of cheese. They cost loads of monet to make and everyone hates them
They kinda already did Witcher's next season is it's last (original plan was 7 seasons and spinoffs, scrapped) and Wheel was just clapped.
I bet ROP is next, the amount of bread they dumped into making that and I don't hear anybody talk about it much.
Judging from episode 1, the sword fight choreography are still as insane as when Cavill was in. Liam’s a great replacement so far.

Not enough specialty fights with monsters. Wan see more potions and witcher upgrades vs big monstets. Instead they use em once a season. Wack

All of them wanted a GOT so bad they were blind.
What worked for GOT was that it wasnt a fantasy trough and trough. Sure, it had some magic, but they didnt have mages making fire circles with their hands and having fireball fights
That shyt works in video games but it doesnt rly work in movies.
Take away the dragons and the white walkers and you have some families in the midlle ages fighting for power. And ppl still would've watched

Show was incredibly mediocre and Caville himself is a mid actor who (1) gets by more on looks than acting chops and (2) had an elevated profile by being this unintentional beneficiary and sort of living martyr to the fandom from the whole MoS/Snyder/DCEU clusterfukk and fallout.
And yea, some large scale fantasy concepts are better animated because technology simply isn’t there yet to make mythical creatures look “real” or interact properly with actors in live action. It works with an Avengers budget with everything from spider-man to who he’s fighting all being cgi, but when it’s human vs cgi mythical monster? We get these choppy fight scenes with a million different camera cuts
Show was mediocre because of the writing not Cavill. Sure, he's not a good actor but you dont have to be DDL to play the witcher. Maybe my expectations were to high because ppl who were familiar with the source material were hyping this up. I didnt read the books, so maybe the source material wasnt that good to begin with. Only played the witcher 3 (recently)and loved it .

Basically that Caville’s departure (or even a return) wasn’t going to change anything quality-wise despite the knee jerk reaction by the fandom once he left.
Show was meh and the main selling point (hunting/fighting monsters) was limited
