Bobby knight has always hated recruiting and he flat out refused to talk to any potential one and dones so his programs suffered near the end of his coaching career due to it. Coach K had gotten salty about losing players early to the NBA after having bad luck with one and dones that didn't work out so he kinda tried to get less talented players so he didn't have to rebuild year after year but it didn't work and he was wise enough to realize the climate of college bball had changed and he had to adapt or be left behind like coach knight. He'll never admit it but I truly believe he was scared of becoming a has been that rested on his past accomplishments instead of continuing to achieve more.
