Does Iran have any cards left? They seem completely incapable to defending themselves. They no longer have their proxies and their scientists/military are getting taken out left and right. They're just sitting ducks it seems. They launch all these missiles and most of them don't even land anywhere that's of strategic importance to Israel. Unless they receive help from China, Russia or Pakistan I see no way out for them other than regime change or coming to another nuclear agreement with no cards on the table.

I think regime change is coming to Iran. I expect the Supreme Leader to be killed soon.

I don't think the US will want to go through with the full nation-building routine though. They (and Israel ... or perhaps I should just say Israel, since what Israel wants is all that matters) will be happy to support one of the several factions in the ensuing civil war.

There will be a flood of refugees to Europe, but that won't bother the US or Israel

Iran has a navy. There’s nothing stopping them from sortieing a naval task force to bombard and blockade Israel and then it’s game over. Iran could even put boots on the ground and be in Jerusalem. It could be just like 48’ or 67’.

My parents and brother are still in Mecca post-Hajj until the 30th.

There were a ton of Iranian pilgrims this year. This is in part due to the Saudi-Iran detente that China helped broker in 2023. Iran has gotten more and more quota for pilgrims since.

The Iranians can't fly home since their airspace is closed. So the Saudis are giving free accommodations for them is what my dad told me earlier.
