I don't get the US stance on Iran. Seems fairweather.

1970s: Shah is bad, there shouldn't be a king. Overthrow him.
79s-80s: Iraq is bad. Give Iran several squadrons of Tomcats.
2008-2012: you're cool as long as you promise not to manufacture nuclear weapons.
2025: bomb them
2026: Americans shouldn't protest! We want a shah back! Iranians, go protest.

It’s very simple actually. The federal government’s stance is destabilize the entire region so functional democracy can’t form anywhere and this leaves everyone at risk from their rabid attack dog currently occupying Palestine. Whatever form that takes is what the government wants to be done.
