Iran's Navy has to be destroyed for any of this to work - pentagon said upfront that its a primary objective of all this too.

Look at the footage that's making the rounds currently. Replaying cell phone and city crosswalk footage is a far, far cry from actually being embedded with the military. Journalists suck now. And being the performative cheerleaders most are, they're literally unable to report on anything currently happening on the water.

So sure, they have to wait for press releases. But they're not even aware enough to ask anymore. If Iran can't coordinate its air defenses, then how are they going to put up any sort of organized fight against the US on the water? And prevent their people from defecting/fleeing at the same time?

I see what you're saying now. I guess what I'm saying is hopefully Iran didn't actually sail out and challenge the US and stayed in port. Not a good way to go.

Obviously it's necessary for their navy as small as it is to be destroyed from an operational standpoint.

Sure, the succession plan will go into effect and they'll get a new hardliner as the ayatollah, but internally, the people gotta be sick and tired of both foreign intervention and the regime. I don't buy that the iranian people will just go along with external help for a revolution/regime change when they've been witnesses -with added propaganda- of what happened to Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan.

So, on one hand they'll probably continue to get oppressed by the regime and on the other they'll grow suspicious or fed up with external intervention. They fukked no matter what
