Seems to be the same concerns they expressed. The president needs to go through congress.Im not trying to criticize dems too much cause I know blue maga gonna be on my neck , but where was these concerns 2 weeks ago when people was asking for them to make an actual stand against war and not only procedural argument?
Seems to be the same concerns they expressed. The president needs to go through congress.
Further, we should be asking why the speaker of the house and senate majority leaders did no demand.
Trying to say it’s all on the majority party just further treats broken government as the norm and disregards the total abdication of their duties under the legislative branch we’ve seen for over a decade.
I’m just looking at the bigger picture. I don’t recall congress even putting on a show to do its job since yellow cake.None of what you're saying is wrong, but Democratic leadership (Jeffries and Schumer specifically) are at best pussies, and at worst, complicit. At some point, we (and I'm including myself as a lifelong Democratic voter) might have to come to terms with the fact that these two don't disagree with Trump as much on substance as we'd like to think. Occam's razor, at least in my opinion, points to them not vociferously opposing the attack on Iran because they actually support it.
This is the stupidest war of all of our lifetimes. You thought Iraq was bad? At least they had an objective that they could lie to us about. Trump is saying one thing, Marco Rubio is saying another, Ted Cruz (who apparently was advising them in the days before) is saying yet another. At least the Bush Administration was able to agree on the same lie.
We have dumb asses both on this site and off coming up with justifications for this attack when the Administration itself cannot articulate a concrete objective or reason. We're depleting our arsenal, (possibly) damaging our relationship with the Gulf allies even more, and creating an even more dangerous world for Americans, and for what? A country that the Omani foreign minister said had already agreed to an even stronger deal than the JCPOA.
And all these cowards can talk about is process. Yes, Republicans are a cult, but we've known that since 2016. What do we do about that now?
People saying this is the separatist group that the cia armed for the uprising last month
The assumption and honestly the correct assumption is that Republicans operate in a cult‑like way and will only follow their chosen leader. As a Democratic voter, you’d hope our party actually listens to its constituents. But it’s become obvious to me that our party agrees with Republicans on this war and just doesn’t want to admit it in fear from the blowback from their own voters. Instead, they focus on criticizing the process so that, years from now, they can say Trump is the one who dragged us into it. They avoid taking clear votes because they don’t want to be held accountable, and they want to preserve the ability to later claim they were against sending service members home in body bags. To me, that’s cowardice. Not everything has to be some political calculationI’m just looking at the bigger picture. I don’t recall congress even putting on a show to do its job since yellow cake.
Hence me classifying it as a complete abdication of duties by the legislature. That includes democrats, but doesn’t exclude republicans like so many discussions here like to do.
get electoral power to actually do something meaningfulAnd all these cowards can talk about is process. Yes, Republicans are a cult, but we've known that since 2016. What do we do about that now?
This is where I draw exception.
