Yo this is why I don't post here in the booth and I'm serious trolls have ruined serious discussion
Why even try to compare the two anyway? Smh. Stuff like this is partly why hiphop is in such a bad place. People don’t even think Cole is the best rapper out of his class... how you trying to compare him to Jay Z? I like Cole btw.

Skillwise J. Cole isn't up to par with Jay, content wise Cole is more for the average person who doesn't relate to the trap life while Jay raps about making it out of the streets. It's all what you prefer but i'm a fan of both.

I'll play. If you listen to music "in the moment" and never go back, or foward for you :old: nikkas, I could definitely understand this way of thinking. I'm assuming someone between 17-25 when you say young boys. They weren't old enough for BP3, Ye was a more noticeable figure than Jay on WTT, and then "washed" Jay on Magna Carta. Meanwhile Cole was somewhat new going on a mixtape run and releasing his best bodies of work when the young boys were teenagers. Now if they didn't go back and are just saying shyt just to say it then charge it to the game but that sentiment ain't far-fetched.

I'm a much bigger J Cole fan than Jay because I grew up with Cole but in no way, shape, or form is he better than Jay Z. He outclasses him in almost every facet of being a rapper.

See this is why I sometime argue- as assbackwards as this is going to sound---Jay is underrated in a lot of ways.

He's super famous and has been for decades, he's been a business man/forbes guy for decades, he's been the culture lightening rod for a while, and the Beyonce shyt.

But fukk all of that, strip all of that away.......Jay can fukking rap. Cole is mean. Super dope.

But listen to Jay on that "ASAP" beat. Listen to the word play on "Intro/A Million and one questions". shyt listen to "Marcy Me".....it's levels to this shyt.

j cole is on par with jay z skill wise huh. very interesting. i'm convinced the younger generation(s), born after 1985 folks, have a completely different ear & overall set of hip hop sensibilities

most were conditioned by very low stakes mainstream rap and are too young to put material that predates them in any kind of context. the slang is dated, beats sound archaic & the topics don't fit their current existence. it's just old shyt they pops and uncles listened to back in the day and they ain't interested

today they value kodak & dababy as elite lyricists the same way we did gza & black thought. brehs? that tells you ALL you need to know lmao. i just let them nikkas live, bless their hearts man

Forest Hills Drive is undoubtedly a classic. Friday Night Lights is debatable
