Dad bods winning? :patrice:
No, there is difference between fitness, and body building.
Difference between Rocky Balboa in his prime, vs Ronnie Coleman is his prime.
Being built like Mr Olympia isn't natural or healthy. Nobody wants the life expectancy of a 90s WWF star

But if you lift and build muscle that is still good.

I dont think any reasonable person would say dont lift weights at all. But weights are like everything else...you can do too much. No debate that man did too much. He is a legend and still lifting so from everything I understand it was worth it to him. So there is nothing for me to say.

The irony of this being bro science

Weight lifting is actually good for your bones. Especially as you age.
Heavy is relative. Lifting weights is good for your bones. Lifting 400+ lbs isn’t beneficial for anything. It does feel good though.

Damn, what if folks go light on the deadlift and squats, and more reps instead? Still not worth it? I like it for posture.

Thats a level of intensity the average person will never reach. Just stay at 60% of your weight youre fine. Proper form is important and know youre limits.

True but heavy is still relative to each person. One wrong move on a squat or deadlift and you now have back problems for the rest of your life.:francis:
That’s true with anything tho. If I drive and do one wrong move I could be paralyzed for life from
An accident.

Ppl should take the time to actually learn the proper form and not ego lift. A squat is one of the body’s most natural movements. It is not inherently dangerous.

That wrong move happens because people do not know how to lift properly not because they are lifting too heavy.

Ronnie is a legend and fellow Grambling State alum.

He wouldn’t change a thing. He’s lived life on his terms and achieved things other men can only dream of.

That being said, this is the price for that greatness in his later life.

As you get older, that heavy azz lifting is difficult on the bones, tendons, and joints not to mention Ronnie was on gear and probably was eating 10,000 calories or more a day and had an even crazier workout routine to maintain that physique of being like 320 pounds and shredded with a bodyfat percentage in the single digits.

It’s hard on the body and most of those guys pay for it later in life. Look at the world of bodybuilders and pro wrestlers from that 80s and 90s era.

Modern era body builders have a higher mortality rate than the average human.

But previous era body builders had a longer life expectancy than the average human.

It's called the Golden Paradox.

Modern era has extrem over training and steroid use, also use of supplement that conflict with each other and cause organ and other issues.

Training like the old era as a body builder was best.

Facts…don’t ego lift, warm up especially older bruhs, learn proper technique/form, learn proper fail techniques, have a spotter and safety in place, and listen to your body.
