First celebrity or hip-hop personality I thought of when I heard about Stan Lee's death was actually Pete Rock.
Pete is a colossal Marvel stan (pun intended).
One of Halftime Radio's last shows before DJ Eclipse retired it had him interviewing some cats from Marvel around the time they were unveiling the Marvel hip-hop alternate covers. And they were talking about how Pete Rock had the opportunity to visit their office one day and was one of the biggest Marvel fans they ever met. He could name every character on that big ass Marvel poster and knew just about every characters back story, alter-ego, etc.
Sean Price was just like that too. Eclipse said that one of the last emails he got from Sean Price was directions to get to either show or studio and you had to know the real names of certain characters to follow the directions. Eclipse is a Marvel head too.
But like others have said, DOOM is too creative to need Marvel or Stan Lee to make him. Obviously Marvel and FF4 play big in his creativity, but he's a 70s and 80s pop-culture nerd in general. If it wasn't Marvel he would have flipped some obscure TV or movie like he did with Monsta Island Czars and Godzilla movies.
