I don’t see game 3 as a must win for Indy, they just need a split. I think Indy was always good for at least one start to finish win with no bullshyt endings and could possibly get 2 of those.

Their only way to realistically win the series IMO is to steal another game the way they stole game 1 and I just can’t see that happening twice this series.
They just need a split at home to guarantee a game 6 back in Indy. The most important game for Pacers will be game 4 where it is either 2-2 or down 3-1. The Pacers have won every game after defeat by double digits in the playoffs.

OKC coughin up game 1 definitely gave IND a puncher's chance, but a lot of fukkery would have to happen.

Conventional thinking would've had this a 5-game series, with OKC pretty handidly winning all their home games and splitting on the road. That IND got a freebee road win without having to play their best ball yet / i.e. they're still due a god-tier 3 point shooting night, is great for them.

Unfortunately for them, OKC doesn't play like NYK; they have hiccups but mostly they don't beat themselves with dumb decisions on offense or cluelessness on defense. These double digit deficits will start to feel more like death sentences if IND can't figure out a way to keep pace
It’s really reminiscent of the Heat-Nugs finals. One’s team ceiling is really barely above the other’s floor. We’ll probably get more close games, and Indy may even win, but they really shouldn’t if OKC is playing their usual brand.

Which I hate to say, because Indy is probably the most entertaining East team we’ve gotten in IDK how long. They also don’t have the high lottery talent OKC has. They exceeded the hell out of expectations

That annoyed me so much with Brunson. So much to the point I was calling for him to play off ball and have them get a real point guard next year

No.

You shrink the effectiveness of the knicks. By taking the ball from brunson and then giving it to another guard. It also usurps natural leadership.
Similar to george karl undermining ai in denver with carter at the point.

Same thing with why brunson leaving dallas occurred as well.
It is wholely counterproductive. The issue with the knicks is not pairing robinson with kat.
as a starters in the post season. To create solidarity defensively via size in the frontcourt. As well as offensive dexterity and focus possession to possession.

Oh I already knew that whoever was coming outta the east was losing to OKC from the jump. The only team that could have been decent comp was Boston but they decided to shoot 120 3s and blow Tatum's Achilles out...smh

But OKC just has a better overall team and IND doesn't have anyone that can get consistent points when they need it like SGA can. I was just annoyed listening to the so called sports experts talk like IND actually has a chance and they get paid to analyze these games. They even have Hali and undeserved nickname outta it too. If he didn't hit that shot they would be crushing him right now. He literally played the exact game tonight he did game 1. He just hit that game winner and flipped the narrative lol
i hear you, but i do think IND has a chance. Analysts have been saying Indy doesn't have a chance since the 2nd round, some even the 1st. can only have egg on your face for so long before you give in. Hali having a big moment in each stage of these playoffs..if anyone else did some shyt like that they'd get a nickname too, i can't even be mad at it even if it's a garbage nickname. at each level too? (layup/three/long 2/middy) can't deny that imo

as for the game, they had a lot of good looks when they started being down and the shots weren't falling. in the 2nd half, they were getting matched bucket for bucket; i get SGA is a bucket but it felt like nobody on that team were missing threes all night. i'm not gonna bank on that level of contribution from the bench again, them mfs hit 10 threes, 9 outside of when Carlisle waved the flag

second game where no pacer even touched 20, and Pascal/Hali had 11/13 FGA. I get they aren't superstars and they are definitely not guys (unless its the final minute for Haliburton for some reason), but they gotta step up and and get leader-amount of touches and attempts. doubly so if they're on the road

I can't bank on the pacers always having these performances just yet, they always seem to find the answer although admittedly this is the first time i feel like they've been straight up lost on D. We'll see if that still translates in the venue change

lastly i think the pacers gotta figure out an answer to starting slow. looking at game 1 scoring by quarter: 20/25/31/35 and game 2: 20/21/33/33 they really get clicking in the 2nd half. the Thunder ending g2 with 34/30 as opposed to 28/25 didn't feel like an anomaly, so maybe an early defensive scheme gotta be drawn up a little better because even the full court press doesnt feel as effective as it did in the previous two series'

OKC did a better job at weathering Indy's run. Like when they went from up 23 to 13, they were able to push the lead back up to keep them at bay.

What the Knicks did and what OKC did in game 1, by getting 1 shot possessions or a turnover, you're playing right into their hands until it's a 2-3 point game
Let's be honest, OKC should be up 2-0 and would be if their head coach didn't inexplicably decide that playing no bigs down the stretch of game 1 was a good idea. This is no disrespect to the Pacers, they're in the Finals - deservedly so and they have a great team but OKC is simply a cut above

Not much to say here until we see game 3. Those game 3's are always interesting to watch.

If Hali is really playing through injury, then they are fukked. Playmakers like those are incredibly valuable assets in current era NBA.

OKC is showing that when they lock in on defense, there's nothing Indy can do with them. And unfortunately for Indy, OKC has shown they can be consistent in their defensive pressure for 48 minutes.

And they have the best player on the floor in SGA who can get a high percentage shot whenever he wants. Pacers don't have a player who can do that.

OKC in 5 :coffee:

They are literally one made shot away from being up 2-0. Props to Indy for that but OKC shouldn’t have let that happen. Got to see what happens but I dunno man. Will Indy pull a Minny and win a 40 point blowout game before losing the series? Time will tell.
