Bowden was old and the game had passed him by. Stoops has neither problem.

If you going to retire he would announce it during the season and left after the final game. You don't retire this late in the offfseason. He been recruiting for OU this whole time why would he retire out the blue

Yeah, I thought Stoops was OU for life. Even though he hasn't won a title since 2000, Oklahoma was consistently winning Big 12 titles and in the BCS/CFP picture under Stoops.

I don't think he's as highly regarded to pull an Urban but maybe that Notre Dame job will be open at the end of the season.
