Nothing but enhancements.Why not do both barbell and dumbbell?
Both of theseThere’s always a place for benching if it’s done right. The problem is terrible form and dudes not checking their egos trying to lift way to much. Until you have mastered the form and technique do the bar if you have to. Beginners should master the five exercises of the strong lifts, build from there then the sky is the limit.

No need to try to prop up the usage of dumbbells as being superior to barbells.
