I was 8 year's old in 1985 and Michael Jackson was Magic to us Black Kid's, He Scared us with The Jackson's in their "Can You Feel It" video, that beat with Giant Ass Negro's walking around dancing and shyt spreading gold dust on people, that shyt scared the fukk outta me:mjlol:


The nikka was dancing in Space in the Rock With You Video

Then Mike was walking and the ground lit up, he disappearing and shyt, turning into Baby Tiger's in Billie Jean Video

The nikka turned to a Zombie in Thriller

Michael Jackson was Magic in the flesh to us so when he turned white as a kid he was just doing some Magic shyt

:manny: He did it gradually. It wasn't too shocking by the time he reached the end product. From the early nose changes circa thriller 82-83 to becoming lightskinned around 86 to 88, to damn near white 90-93 to white by the late 90's. Most people accepted that he was eccentric and fukked up from Joe being hard on them and him being teased about his nose and still fukked with the music. I don't remember any big discussion about a black icon's transformation like that influencing black youth to do the same. Obviously a big line from the time Black or White came out was "if it don't matter how come your white now?" but people still fukked with his music and didn't judge him too harshly from what I remember. I once heard Rev. Phil Valentine say he wanted to look like Rob Lowe with the chin dimple. Most people thought he was handsome to begin with but fukked himself up with the nose jobs by the end. If R. Kelly's music can still be played despite that tape and controversy when it was first out there that should tell you Mike's transformation wasn't taken too hard. Lil Kim is another good example. People agree she looked good already but has fukked herself up but still fukk with her.

I had a racist step dad. One day in like 86-87 he asked me if I knew what Michael Jackson was. I assumed because at the time he was light skinned, hair was curly, that he, like me, was black and Asian. My step dad laughed at my ass. I didn't even give a fukk though. Mike was my hero back then. Thriller every year around my birthday

Breh I remember like it was yesterday
Those youtube clips werent seen by many
So almost 95% of first saw his dramatic change was the 'bad" album cover.

It was 1987, I was almost 6 years old, I had the thriller album, the Micheal jackson toy doll, the shades, a homemade glove.

I was juiced waiting for the "bad" album until it came out, I went to the record store with my dad..
I WAS SHOCKED....I was like who's that, it cant be mike, dad is that really him?
My father confirmed, but he couldn't really explain why, his only reason was, " it's probably just the lighting" of course a five year old doesnt know what that means..lol

I remember holding the record in my hand, on the way home I tore the plastic off the cover album to see the pictures inside, I think I was trying to piece together what exactly was going on.
Maybe it was just an error if the rest of pics looked normal.

Well, all the pictures on the inside were in black and white, the only picture that was in color was the front cover.

Then a couple weeks later, my dad bought me micheal Jackson's moonwalker movie, which had all the video's from the bad album with a story

The first video was man in the mirror, although he looked alot darker then he did on the album cover, you could tell something had changed with his skin.

Then when we got to the speed demon video you could really see how light his skin was.

I remember being extremely confused. Afterwards my dad said he had bleached his skin cause he wanted to look white. My mother agreed, I couldn't understand why the biggest superstar in the world wanted to look white.
