im 25 and ive accepted it ... shyt will never be back

the game really did just turn into "average nikkas talking"

only the people who have no idea about it, fight for it

I also realized wutang makes the same song over and over and hides behind religion. Luckily Rza kept them together and made them cult status

but be real, wutang is garbage outside of older cds, ghost dont write his own rhymes, rza been jacking shyt for like 7 years, raekwon had his bodyguards beat up joe budden all because methodman cant speak for himself. methodman derailed redmans career. gza is dope but he never drops ... they got all these fake mini groups and its all the same shyt over and over ... peace god, and peace and religion and then violence then pro black, that shyt is mad phony and contrived now. ODB was the only thing going for them and they left him alone. ODB was the only one growing and saying whatever he wanted, not just the same brainwash bullshyt

ODB was not the only thing going for them, that nikka went to jail and when he came out he wasn't the same. Whatever happened to Redman's career is nobody's fault but his own. Method and Red sold a lot of records together and they still tour off that shyt. Wutang makes a lot of the same songs but you can say that about half of the rappers out now. And I'm sure if they changed it up a bit, their core fans would shyt on them.

Haven't checked for new albums in yearsssss. I still fukk with mixtapes tho. They tend to have better music because it's not constrained by label politics. The artists can do them.

French Montana :scusthov:

Drake :scusthov:

Lil Wayne? :scusthov:

Trinidad James :scusthov:

2 Chainz :scusthov:

These tweens can keep new rap :scusthov::scusthov:

I'm not 35 yet, but I'm what you consider an old head

I'm ok with the current state of hiphop simply because I only listen, without any prejuidice, to what apeals to me. I don't give a fukk what the (stupid) public listen to or watch. I have an ipod/macbook with internet connection/dvd player, so I don't need a radio or tv to tell me what "OTHER PEOPLE" think is hot.

Matter of fact, hiphop today is better than it used to be in the early-mid 00s. Underground hiphop fell off a lil bit, but as far as mainstream, the hot rappers today are more talented than hot rappers of the past decade.

I agree with your second paragraph but that last paragraph, the bolded sentence :rudy:

The early 2000's had some amazing, classic shyt. Ghostface, Dead Prez, Nas, Jay Z, Scarface, Talib, Game, 50, Kanye, Little Brother, Outkast, Sticky Fingaz to name a few dropped some incredible shyt during that period you refer to. Hip Hop today aint touching that.

But todays hip hop still has more than half those artists u named..they dnt even come from that era of hip hop

50 was the hottest mufcka to come out in that era

Rii now its Drake

And imo I'd take Drake ova 50

50 cant spit forreal
Drake can

u compare the 2000-2006 roster with todays there is no competition

In that era it was

TI
Game
50
Dose number of flash in the pan artist(DJ Unk, Joc, D4L, J Kwon etc)

dnt compare the year of flash in the pan artists to now.

where we got

Cole(even doe i dnt fck wit him)
Asap
Kdot
Drake
Ross
Schoolboy Q

and a plethora of others who are droppin heat with different styles

I can't take away from the dude that he has finally become a bigger artist, and kudos to him for that. But, the man still has no talent. Does he have any quotable lines? And spare the ignorant beat-drops stupid ass punchlines. I mean some real quotable verses that make a man sit back and just be like "damn". fukk no. He doesn't have any of that.

Let's be real, 2Chainz is only successful...10 YEARS later, because there just isn't much competition anymore. He couldn't get any attention a decade ago because there were much better artists doing hip hop then.

"...the more ignorant trap music, the it is."

And THAT, is why I can't get on board with it. I don't do ignorant shyt. I don't do ignorant music.

There isn't just much competition anymore? :stopitslime:

you can't even sit here and say Tity Boi>>>2Chainz, cause it's not true...dude clearly progressed from 10 years ago..... but let you tell it, he didn't get better, everybody else just either died or went to jail.

But you don't like ignorant music, so how exactly would you know he didn't get better?

by rule, if you don't like ignorant music.... you weren't listening to anything Atlanta was putting out since 2000, except for Outkast and B.o.B....and possibly Killer Mike.

You're a strange little fellow. Are daft punk those guys who sing blue Da boo di Da boo Da?

That's Eiffel 65:childplease:

you're like pushing 40 and you hate everything, you should know who they are breh.

in fact, you should hate them even more for being sampled by Kanye for one of his biggest songs ever...cause that's not hip hop

I meant hot mainstream hiphop. Dead Prez, Little Brother, Sticky, and even Talib and even ghost don't count. TDE is better than most of them anyway.

This's the problem I have with most new-school haters/old-school lovers, they have very selective memory. They dig very deep to prove how good the music was in the past (in your case: little brother and dead prez), but when it comes to new music, they can't get past French Montana and weezy :shaq2:

when I was comparing the two eras, I was talking about Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Big Sean compared to Nelly, Ja, and old cash money.

Dead Prez doesnt count even though their biggest hit was all over the radio and tv constantly? You didnt have to dig deep at all to find them, just switch the radio to on.

I feel like the spirit and quality isn't there anymore. No one is willing to take chances and push the envelope and boundaries to create something never done before. :trash: in, :trash: out.

It's not just rap though, other genres of music are suffering from the same thing. Between that, and just tooooooo much access to the artists day to day life (TMZ, MTO, TV GOSSIP, ETC), has watered down the craft to only reinforce the feelings I have.

Yes, that's right. I'm saying he is no better. He simply has little to no competition these days and "hiphop" has moved to the direction of ignorant music...which is perfect for him.

How do I know he didn't get better??? Because I've listened. I give nearly every artist a chance. I listened to him to give him a shot, that's how I formulated an opinion.

And yes, you're fairly accurate. I never jumped on the ATL bandwagon except for OutKast, Dungeon Family, and Goodie Mobb.

@MegaTronBomb! really dropping some truth in here. :salute:

Every generation goes through the same damn cycle every time.

"These kids don't have it tough"

"They didn't grow up like us"

"They are soft"

"There music isn't as good"

"They weren't concerned about the issues like we were"

"The new kids are dumb"

"What do they do better than us? Nothing"

People have been saying that since the beginning of time for every genre of music. Are those criticisms and broad generalizations true? Depends on where you're coming from. There's a lot of bias for nostalgia and age in every facet of life whether it be music, cars, movies, work, food, whatever. Today's generations will be saying the same shyt people in this thread are talking about 10 years from now. Some people are literally "stuck" in an era and refuse to accept anything after. I feel sorry for them. There's good music in every era.

I just turned 26,
I will say this,
I dislike drill/trap/emotional/house music now,
Just like I dislike 2006 version of crunk/coke music.
Hip-hop/rap passed me by summer of 2005.

people steady chalking this up to strictly nostalgia are showing that theyre really not hip-hop and don't see the big picture.

wake up and take notice to whats going on.

no wonder we're getting swindled out of our own chit with such ease.

dudes is stupid.

lol @ the early/mid '00s names mentioned. very short list.

most of these current names that youre reppin wouldn't have even bothered to pick up the mic in the early '00s. and if the game wasn't such a corporate dictatorship, most of these dudes wouldn't be on now neither.

and kdot had a deal back then, and nobody cared about his corny @$$.

Dig deep:childplease:

First off you clearly didn't read my first post so read the paragraph below:

Call it ignorance, but i will always have hope that there will be some artists from any generation that i can f*ck with. Right now TDE are a breath of fresh air for me. KRIT got soul i feel it in his music. Skyzoo too. I f*cks with Nipsey and J Cole, i know both get hate (especially the latter) but they both remind me of the 90s/2000s to a certain extent. There will always some keeping hip hop alive for me.

Dam near everyone i knew had lets get free. It had one of the biggest hip hop bangers on it, every club i went to played that song. :ahh:

Supreme Clientele .... thats digging deep? Im sure every hip hop head knows about that album. I dont fukk with 50 but GRODT was a classic and was all over the airwaves and clubs, so was the documentary, the speakerbox etc etc.

There is no digging, this is very public music i listed. Of course there was trash too, there is trash in every era.
