So we gonna ignore that fact the Jay Z/Nas battle happened after Hit Em Up dropped and was arguably the greatest rap battle in Hip Hop history?

If anything it helped battling so nikkas won't take to the streets and nobody won't start getting murked over diss songs.

When the LOX - State Property and 50 - Murder Inc beefs got outta hand some older black figure usually jumped in like :whoa: and told them to chill.

:whoa:

jay/nas was not a goat battle.

it wasnt even the best rocafella battle THAT YEAR.

When Hit em Up dropped I hated it. I'm from the east and was riding with Bad Boy in Blind faith when it dropped. I also was like 10 but being 10 back then meant you had a core understanding of hip hop and all things related.

I hated the song especially because he dissed my old family friend Chino XL.

As I grew up along with my mind, I learned to respect Pac so much more. He was truly last of the dying breed. It took a while for me to truly understand the great man Pac was and all that he has done in his 25 short years on this planet. And it wasn't right after he died when I even cared. It took several years.

People are complicated. Some of you dudes swear you got to keep it Gangsta even when you take a shyt.

Only in the Coli is where Gangstas are barred from Enjoying Poetry and such...

John Gotti was a lover of poetry and classical music you numb nuts.

With that said Hit em Up was something Vicious!

Pac still got ya hurt :pachaha:

Only on the internet :snoop:

That State Property - LOX beef wasn't as exciting, have classic tracks, etc.

What battle was better than Jay/Nas?

Takeover & Ether is discussed on here daily, both tracks full of quatobles that are used daily, the stan bases of Jay & Nas are at each other necks regularly on various Hip Hop forums, etc.

The Jay/Nas battle had a MTV special just to discuss that battle, breh.

Those SP - LOX disses are barely remembered compared to Takeover & Ether.

That Jay/Nas battle was legendary, we probably won't a battle like that ever again :wow:

it's funny.... I can benchmark my entire life.... where I was, what I was doing and who I was with by what song I was listening to....

I honestly can't remember what I was doing when I first heard Hit Em Up.

You have no idea how weird that is to me.

im not an internet dude. in fact, im one of the people that created the "only on the internet" saying that you are horribly mis-using.

the dblock/state property beef was beyond exciting and churned out classic diss tracks as well.

jay/nas was great but most of the time, it was 2 divas pu$$y-footing around.

i could care less about an mtv special. thats all hype. thats the stuff i was talking about in my previous post. HYPE.

i mean, beans/jada; state prop/dblock was better to me, but not by a huge margin. so if you think jay/nas was better, then so be it.

but i prefer beans/jada. if youre more into hype, propaganda, and a big song & dance over quality and artists pushing each other to the outer limits, then yea, youre prolly more into jay/nas.

i look at it like wrestling, where alot of the time, the undercard outshines the main event but the main event is one of the main matches that brings the money before the actual event takes place.

state prop/dblock is that under-card show-stealer.

I gotta cosign this not taking anything away from jay vs nas but the Roc underlings vs Ruff Ryder lightweights was bananas.
Sure it wasnt mainstream but thats what made it all better. Me and my crew knew the words to all those Beans Jada Styles Freeway Young Chris etc. disses direct and indirect.
Dam that was a great time in Hip Hop :to: now they try to make us pay attention to Chris Brown vs Drake/Frank O :snoop:
