I gotta cosign this not taking anything away from jay vs nas but the Roc underlings vs Ruff Ryder lightweights was bananas.
Sure it wasnt mainstream but thats what made it all better. Me and my crew knew the words to all those Beans Jada Styles Freeway Young Chris etc. disses direct and indirect.
Dam that was a great time in Hip Hop :to: now they try to make us pay attention to Chris Brown vs Drake/Frank O :snoop:

real spit

i had to make a spinoff thread about this:

I first heard it on a Bad Boy mix tape. Puffy was laughing as it played in the background. I found it on youtube>>>>

In 96 hiPhoP was at it's artistic and darn near commercial peak on a general level. Of course l8a cats like em, 50, dmx, jay would sell ms but they were part of the elite few. In 9-6 every major act was at least plat. SuGe had the game on lock. It will never happen again to have a b?ack man own all his ish and have the record industry with a noose around its neck telling it what it can and cannot do with regards b?ack music. Suge was like a dictator, a despot, who did what he pleased, when it pleased him but like all rulers he was gonna come a cropper in the end. During his reign Suge gave Pac the self-belief & confidence to attack all an sundry. Pac was literally out of control. BiGgie was shook one. Not just from DR but from the Brookyln hoodlums and Diddy's people who were purposely getting him to do things that on reflection should have been avoided. Diddy is backed by the men in b?ack and by The Man. BiGgie was in over his head and even when HEU was released he tried hard to deflect attention but Diddy was using Vibe mag to stoke the fires. All us loVas of hiphoP were just counting down the days when Pac would meet his Maker. The joint shook the Eastcoast and only a young Prodigy was prepared to represent for his coast.

When he died HEU was still being played everywhere but again BigGie coz he was stopPin short of out and out laughing at Pac's death yet still talking slick about his rival thought the drama was over. hiphoP heads knew the westcoast was out of bounds for any premier eastcoast rapPer aside from wu tang clan. when he went to the west coast and the soul train awards we all knew at the time he was signing his dea?h warrant coz it was like he was pi$sin on Pac's grave. On the nite busta was literally crying to bigGie saying there were bloods in the party grillin and makin gang signs and threats at the biG one. busta told him not 2 be there and have his security take him back to the hotel whilst the part was still going on but biG wouldn't have it. the fire alarm was falsely triggered and the rest is history. HEU played non stop in 97 on the west coast!!!!!!!!!

I'm from LA and I was doing a lot of clubbing. I went to a club in Hollywood that was packed like sardines . . . Hit Em Up came on and the crowd damn near started to riot . . . .the air conditioning was terrible so I stopped dancing and was leaning against the wall wiping my face with a napkin . . . the crowd starts yelling/chanting and I dont know what their saying . . .the strobe light starts flashing . . . the DJ stops the beat and all I heard was "Bad Boy Killah!" . . . ."Bad Boy Killah!" . . . "Bad Boy Killah!"

Not a few heads, EVERY MUHFUKKA in the club

great post.

especially the 1st part. thats why the black ceo is basically extinct in hip-hop. we know why they couldnt wait to get rid of suge, dame, master p, etc. birdman still around cuz he prides himself on putting out pop records. HE LITERALLY SAID SOMETHING LIKE THAT TOO.
