That's why I laugh when people call devs "lazy" or say gaming is expensive now with DLC.

Gaming is cheaper then ever and games have more content/effort from devs than ever before.

My parents bought one game for Easter and two for Christmas, that's it. If we got lucky we'd get a game for our birthday. I played the shyt out of sonic and altered beast.

As far as computers, unless you were a major nerd there was no reason for the average person to own one in the early/mid 90's. There was no internet to speak of, so unless you used it for work or gaming (which again, was virtually unheard of back then) you'd have no use for one.

That's before even taking into account the price.

This. My parents created a monster by copping every game my brothers and i wanted plus there were 5 of us all a year apart so between birthdays and Christmas that 10 games a year off top. Not including pops going out and copping shyt for himself like the og doom but he would lace us with day one release games too. Like when Mortal Kombat dropped.

Not too many parents were allowing their kids to play that game considering it was bloody and you know the controversy that came with that game at the time. Bless my old man for giving a lil nikka the world

In fact I remember going to the flea market one Saturday with my mom when I was probably 7 or 8 and they having some really early CD-Rom/DVD version of Terminator 2 playing. Not sure what you mean by remotely the norm. This was 94, not 84. Sure nowadays computers are wifely available, but it wasn't as if it was some super rarity. A LOT of the families who had kids had comps in my neighborhood.

I had a dad that could build computers and shyt. All my shyt was on PC or Super Nintendo/N64. I grew up doing reading rabbit in first grade on computer. I never not had a computer ever. I wasn't even a teen in 1996.

I was an average 19 year old. It's possible you were either rich, or your parents spoiled you.

Did you have it on PC? Did you have a computer, and the internet? Yeah....that doesn't mean it was common.
