Damn, I forgot games used to cost so much back in the day. I only got games for my birthday and Christmas.

I used to get tokens to ride the bus home from school and didn't tell my mom. Used the transportation money I got to buy games or music

Shout out to my moms for doing the best she could for me and my bro, looking at these prices makes me respect her sacrifice even more

Lmaoo this thread is great. I'm 21 so all I remember is gettin the Sega Dreamcast for Xmas in 2000 (most underrated console:wow:) and was blessed with the eventual price drop of video games. shyt was like 40-60 bucks by then until next gen shyt brought the standard to a hard 60. Had Tomb Raider:smugfavre:, Sonic Adventure 1&2:blessed:, NBA Showtime:whew:, Crazy Taxi, Soul Caliber 2 & the GOAT Marvel v. Capcom 2:ahh:. Blockbuster was the ultimate plug cause beside by cousin everyone in my projects had N64 or PSOne. Used to juug Yu-Gi-Oh cards at the Boys & Girls Club and bet lunch money on games of basketball and 4 square to fund my games :bryan:

We were happy. I remember my mom putting our 52" on her goldsmiths ( Macy's) credit card. My game boy came with Tetris and must have played it for months before I got a new game. Computers and games weren't that big of a deal because we actually went outside and played. Bikes, skates, kick ball, four square. You didn't need all those electronics and shyt.

I didn't eat lunch from like 9-13, I was buying Nintendo carts at Kmart and later pornos from the other lames with lunch money.

I came home daily, raiding the fridge like a savage. Mom just shook her head. All in the pursuit of a joystick in my hands, dualities, don't even ask me how.

I grew up all over mid town, around Troost if you're familiar with the area.

Fred.

Troost? Back in the 80's and 90's? Damn, breh. KCMO back then was notorious for some outright foolishness back then...I remember me and one of my cousins had to basically rescue one of our other cousins at a house party from off near Forest ave back in the early 90s, damn near got stabbed with the heroics. My pops had his car stolen from around Paseo, I'll never forget that shyt because he was complaining more about just having the car detailed than it actually getting stolen. :snoop:

I had a nice setup with my cousin, he had ADD or some shyt when it came to video games, he'd buy the systems and games and have everything top notch as soon as it came out and I'd go to his house and take advantage of everything and play the games cause it was hardly being used.

Then like a few weeks later he'd be on to something else and would want to sell his "old system" and since we were family my pop's would give him some cash and I'd have practically new everything for a quarter of the price. :blessed:

That trash 11 inch display computer for 2500???

I know money was worth more back then but cot damn....
Selling dope. You could get your lil paycheck, buy a 8ball and do straight drop and make $100 a gram, sell that shyt out in a couple hours. At one time you could just give dudes bread and they would flip it for you and hand you that shyt back two times. Or you could let dudes do their thing from your crib over the weekend for a lil bullshyt $50-100 a day.

But that computer shyt looks like a rent to own or something. I didn't start using the internet until I was 16 back in '99, and it was a bullshyt off brand Rent A Center, with NetZero. But yeah, as far as stereos and games, all the dudes who had dope dealing going on in the family somewhere had the latest shyt.

Otherwise you had to go to the flea market and buy that stuff used. The resale market was big back then, nowadays they upgrade stuff so fast and stuff breaks down so easily that it's not really palatable. Plus, every black person is on ig perpetrating like they a hedge fund trap lord billionaire now so it's different. Back in the day everybody knew everybody was broke, it wasn't no thing.

And I'm white. :dead:

There was virtually no white people in those areas back then. I went to school at Central, Paseo and Westport. Anybody with even a slight knowledge of that area and those schools knows they didn't have a bunch of computers and nice shyt. Which is why I was :dahell: when dude said every school had computers and/or the internet.
