2Pac wasn't shyt until "Dear Mama" and then getting down with the "It Crew". Biggie had a bigger impact and presence than 2Pac as well, his record sales, outside of his singles weren't that great. This is when New Yorkers was like every nikka in Cali got a whip, nikkas in NY ride the bus and trains so they don't records.

So Pour out a Lil Liquor, , Brendas Got a Baby, Trapped, I get Around, and Pain wasn't hits?

Tupac doesn't even have a top 3 album out the West Coast.

You know what. This is actually true. I think "Me Against the World" is the 5th Best Westcoast album ever:

#1. The Chronic
#2. Straight Outta Compton
#3. Doggystyle
#4. AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
#5. Me against The World

So he does have a Top 5 West coast album.

7 day theory >>> straight outta Compton.

straight outta Compton is a bit overrated.

on the east coast biggie reigned supreme with the rap thing.

no he didn't.

yall immortalizing these dudes.

Pac and Big were huge. Everybody loved them.

false.

a lot of people didn't like pac.
a lot of people didn't like big.
a lot of people didn't care for either of them like that.

Coming home from school to watch Biggie and Pac interviews and videos on Rap City and Yo MTV Raps will always be my greatest memories. Kids today think Youtube is cool for them but actually cooler for guys like me who grew up in the 90's cause we use to have to record the videos with VHS off the TV to watch them over and over again. LOL. Now I can watch all my favorite videos from that era.

I think a key distinction that needs to be made was being a "household" name and being a huge success off rapping

See Pacs name recognition was up there with the best of them but it was on a formula of:

1/3 controversies
1/3 hit singles
1/3 movies

He didnt have a classic album 91-94, and so from a rap success point of view Biggie was a more successful rapper pre 95 on a pure rapping tip. Its a subtle distiction

MATW is when pacs music matured and he caught up, the other components of success were already there, in 95 the quality of his music went to that next level

I call him moderately successful because he wasnt pushing millions of records there was an entire class of artists that were on a higher tier

And i refuse to acknowledge hip hop elite snobbery and ny bias where albums like the infamous and 36 chambers are routinely called classics (which i respect) but then fans outside the NY bubble get the :childplease: when we mention all eyez on me

As if that album was not a nuclear bomb

As if that album wasnt being played throughout 96 in house parties, radio stations, and cars

As if non singles off that album couldnt be recited word for word today by millions of fans

agreed. that's why I say that his name was up there but he wasn't a true contender.

but still, the term "moderately successful" is an under-statement. also, there weren't a lot of rappers pushing millions at the time that didn't have some sort of asterisk next to it. lets be real.

The OP/TS said what was there presence when they were alive...........

Dog Pac had movies.........not 1 movie.......but movies......
Pac was legendary before his death......way before his death.....

Pac was years ahead of Biggie.......besides from my standpoint
when BIG started bubbling he died the next year.......or u can say he had a good
2 yr run.......with strings of hits.....but Pac was like Mike Jordan of Rap
where BIG would be lets say Gary Payton........

If know bout the fued of Jordan/Payton then u understand........

Sure he was popular on the westcoast...If you consider like #7 hottest popular :heh: hell of a difference than what you Pac stans would have us believe, just read some of the posts in this thread about pac running the country when the only thing Pac was running before getting shot was his Jewelz:heh: None of his albums went plat when they were supposed to, he picked up sales after the fact, shout out to jimmy, afeni should send the S4MN plaque to his cell :heh:, YOU stop re-writing history with your selective bullshyt.
Where did you get #7 from? :russ: Pac was #2....or #3....or #1....you see I could pull numbers outta a hat as well :bryan:.

Pac or his estate doesn't owe Jimmy Henchmen anything....All of his album sales were certified by RIAA in 95 including his debut album. AEOM was certified in 98'. His first two albums were certified by RIAA two years and 3 years; respectively So your logic doesn't prove shyt. :pachaha:His singles did impressive numbers as well. (before 95').

Funny how you're calling me selective :pachaha:all you Pac haters did was select a time period between 1991 and 1995 and try to ridicule his album sales (Gold and Platinum isn't good for you nikkaz? Want me to pull the numbers from your local unknown Eastcoast nikkaz between 91 and 95? :pachaha:). Don't forget that Pac was busy touring in Europe with his THUG LIFE group in 94 :pachaha: and how about Death Row Records period? "I worldwide steady war rapping, get your cash on nikka five times platinum. What's that? :pachaha:"

600k first week with Don Killuminati 7 Day theory :pachaha:nikkaz in Mobb Deep concert in New York Yelling "Makaveli" according to Cormega :pachaha:

When Pac died he was the #1 artist in the West and the entire country. You can't dispute that :russ:
