I grew up on mostly West Coast music and it took me a long ass time to get used to Big Puns raps but he's one of those rappers I always hear getting shouted out and referenced in music.

Just looking for some info on what it was like when he came on was Fat Joe like a fat Diddy for him?

Ahh Big Pun. 1 of my favorites. As people said, his run was short being that he was only in the public eye maybe 2 or 3 years and only had 1 album while alive.

That being said, he was a platinum artist. Had respect as a top tier lyricist but also able to make songs that translated to radio, clubs etc. This is really impressive since most rappers that rap in that way (super lyrical, multi syllables, etc) don't go far and can't make songs. Also, low key he propelled Fat Joe's career. Joe was damn near underground and Pun kinda brought him into more mainstream notoriety. Joe is probably a good bar if you wanna know how big Pun was. Whatever popularity Joe had at his peak as an artist, Pun was bigger than that.

Neck ties and boxing gloves.
As previously said, he didn't have a run unfortunately.

One of the best albums in a year of major releases and then we know the rest.

In 1998, DMX dwarfed everything.

And Jay Z went from a gold artist to the commercial crossover sucess he'd been working hard ten years to get.
