As previously said, he didn't have a run unfortunately.

One of the best albums in a year of major releases and then we know the rest.

In 1998, DMX dwarfed everything.

And Jay Z went from a gold artist to the commercial crossover sucess he'd been working hard ten years to get.
How DMX dwarf everything when V2 sold more than both the DMX albums released that year and had bigger hits :heh:

I think Big Pun's run is one of hip-hop's biggest what ifs, cause the dude suplexed the game something serious from 1998-2000. I've never seen anything like it and I don't think I ever will ever again. Makes me think what would of happen if he didn't pass away...

His run was like DMX's and Jay-Zs. Notice anytime folk talk about Pun, he's always talked about with the elite NYC rappers like them and Prodigy, Biggie, Raekwon, KRS...shyt was crazy.

Overrating of east coast/ny rappers continues :mjlol:
Pun had like two hits and people calling it a run :dead:
Dmx ran the years pun was alive, that was a run
If y'all are calling what pun did a run, then mike jones "run" was more impressive and successful.
shyt, juvenile had a MUCH bigger run during the same time frame.

I’m not a Player and Deep Cover videos got hella plays but as most are saying he was respected for his lyrics but I didn’t know anyone who was deep into his music at the time. We played certain joints but definitely wasn’t putting him on our top list. A lot of the conversation was more like damn this big dude is spitting, but there was no real anticipation for him, atleast in my circles. Probably was way different on the east coast though.

At the time, he was one of my favorites. His lyrics and delivery were top tier. He ran laps around almost anyone who was on a song with him. Dying right before his second album was really a tragedy.

When I got older and learned about his history of outrageous domestic violence, I didn’t really talk about him like I used to. Scumbag behavior has become less tolerable as I’ve gotten older.

You can hear it pretty clearly but most especially on that tarvesty of a second album.

Son was nice with the pen but couldn't really spit that shyt live without hype-men to complete his shyt. nikkas that saw him live frequently might wanna correct me on that but that's what I remember.

He had big mainstream hits, and was respected as a lyricist on the underground scene in the same realm as Canibus at the time.

Didnt get huge (No Pun) x2, until he died

Pun was dope at the time. Lost some steam with his 2nd album and then he died. Or maybe he died before that .. I think the stuff with his wife and beef with Joe and linx have put a black cloud over his legacy
I think he died right before the second album. I remember him saying something like, “ I just lost 100 pounds. I’m tryna live!” on the single…then it was released right after he just died.
