At the time, he was one of my favorites. His lyrics and delivery were top tier. He ran laps around almost anyone who was on a song with him. Dying right before his second album was really a tragedy.

When I got older and learned about his history of outrageous domestic violence, I didn’t really talk about him like I used to. Scumbag behavior has become less tolerable as I’ve gotten older.
This song gave me big insecure vibes

The older I get though the more I find out how many men hit women. Never be me

That second album was a letdown no matter who you asked.

Before that though he was in supernova mode. He was everywhere. He had white people yelling “boricua! Morena!” He had guys on sportscenter saying “I’m not a player I just crush a lot” when a guy hit a home run. He had commercial appeal and support from “real” rap fans.

I can’t really call it a “run” but he had a moment as big as almost anyone’s.

That was damn near the line of the year at the time. Just made ya want to say that shyt everywhere.

Ummm...when he released "Not a Player" Philly heads weren't getting jiggy to it. But when he released the remix with Joe, it was a wrap :banderas: . Ricans mainly were bumping his shyt and black folks fell in line.

I mean his run was straight, sadly he never got a chance to go full sprint because yeahhh:francis:

EVERYTHING.

Proof?

I don't have the facts (I wasn't in the studio) but if you listen to the songs he made as he got fatter you could hear him take these disgusting sounding breaths in between bars... of he was punching im pretty sure the engineer would've chopped that breathing sound out

You don’t hit women ? Breh that line of thinking is so lame . Like I used to think that when I was 13. You grow up and even females look at you disappointed if you say you don’t hit females.

Crazy what I'm reading here cause I've always heard Pun being in people's top 10.

Makes you wonder what other things have been accepted as truth that wasn’t the case in real time

98 started with Bad Boy hangover and quickly turned to a Jay/X thing. Cam, Pun & Bis mattered and each had a a big record

Overrating of east coast/ny rappers continues :mjlol:
Pun had like two hits and people calling it a run :dead:
Dmx ran the years pun was alive, that was a run
If y'all are calling what pun did a run, then mike jones "run" was more impressive and successful.
shyt, juvenile had a MUCH bigger run during the same time frame.
:umad:
Juvenile and Mike Jones couldn’t rap like Pun. They were never in the conversation in that regard.

I saw him perform maybe a month after "I'm not a player" came out.

He came out on stage, with a stool and 2 big dudes to support said stool in case it buckled under his weight.

He was just around imo. He had a couple songs obviously but he wasn’t in my to 5 or anything. His first album was cool, the one after he died was kinda ass
