Showtime in 87 I think made 100 total 3's. How many did the last 2 warriors teams make? Last years cavaliers? The 2012-13 and 2013-14 Spurs? The 2012-13 heat had 5 different guys shoot over 40% from deep and make 100+ 3's each. If you can barely rotate on defense, you're gonna get torched from deep real quick.
Exactly, defenses now are light years better than the 80s. All this while not being able to hand check.

For anyone that's coming in here saying one game doesn't mean anything, perhaps you'd like to know that the average pace was 103.1 possessions per game in 1982/1983, as opposed to over the last three seasons (2014-2017): 96.5. 95.8 and 93.9.

They went 164 out of 447 from deep that season. Top 5 in makes, top 7 in attempts, and best in shooting percentage from deep (36.7%). That wouldn't cut it today. Simple evolution of the game. The 2010-15 Grizzlies would definitely thrive under the old rules though. Shame they didn't come along sooner. Their style isn't built for titles in this era given the personnel.

Magic shot .48% from the field in 89-90 and that got him 23ppg...

....but Curry would only average 18 and he shoots .50% even while taking 10 3s per game. :mjlol:

But the 90s had great D huh?

Ok, I'll admit... there was some shytty defense back then, but it was also a more rough era overall compared to today. Free hand checking and knees to the gut

I mean they definitely allowed more contact in the paint, but I think that was also a product of so many stars back then being big men as opposed to guards and forwards. If they were as quick to call fouls in the paint then a lot of those stars would've been spending more time in foul trouble and that's never a good thing from a business standpoint. Players actually striking each other like that was very rare though. I don't think they added flagrant fouls until the 90's anyway so guys knew they had more freedom to foul hard. The league didn't make fouling a guy on a 3 a 3 shot foul until 1994 and they didn't add flagrant fouls until 1990-91. It wasn't until fairly recently too that players would get suspensions for technical fouls too. I think it was the year after Rasheed Wallace had 41 of them.
