Why is it only in hip-hop that the youngings have no respect for those that paved the way for them. Your favorite rappers are in their late 30s and early 40s except for camel. You don't see this type of disrespect in any other genre of music. Is it ignorance? Discuss. I'm waiting for the poor lame comeback of flabby and sick which was taken from a 2pac line as a diss to de la soul lol

because every 18-21 year old thinks they are from the best generation. hip hop is about the NOW. history is history.

there is no respect because the newer generation comes from a time where its ok to dress and act like females and sucking transexual dikks is whats hot in the streets.

you may be right but I don't agree with the NOW...you still have to respect what others did that opened the doors whether it's good or bad.

Don't get me wrong though...today you're right it's too feminine...they'd rather send bodyguards in to do the work than do it themselves.

no you dont. these new kids are opening the doors for a society of she-men by trying to re-wire a man's thought process of what is masculine behavior. thats not respectable to me.

from what i noticed, the new generation that DOES respect the old school is on some real shyt and they know what it is. the ones who are all on that flabby n sick shyt are the sus muthafukkas.

Hip Hop is the music of the young people. However in general Both sides don't really care, I only see this "beef" between the 2 of the Internet.

The average 40 year old rakim Stan does not give a fukk what a 18 year old thinks about Ra. Like the average 19 year Lil wayne stan doesn't care what the old head thinks about Weezy

The best rappers like I said are in the 30s and 40s...that's not the music of the young 18 year old. That's music politics.

The best rappers in your opinion are in there 30's and 40's. And even then Young people buy, download, request the majority of the records.

the rappers are in there 30s and 40s, but for the most part, the fans are mostly under 30. the older hip hop fans dont have any connection to or give a fukk about any of these new kids. they have their own era of piff.

really tho

that ain't gangsta

it's always been that way in hiphop. hiphop is generational. think about how all them cats felt when the "new" rappers started coming out - wu, fugees, big, nas, jay ... in comparison to the legends before them: grandmaster flash and the furious five, Kool Moe Dee, sugar hill gang, Run–D.M.C. Eric B, Big Daddy Kane to name a few - those cats and that generation was SALTY when the 90s era came in. Both the artists + the fans were saying that "kids didn't respect the originators."

True I won't deny that but later you still had like Dr. Dre made a few tracks for an album for Rakim, 2pac gave a tribute to the old school and even had Big Daddy Kane on a unreleased song, J Dilla and so on gave respect back. Today you're called flabby and sick and no country for old men type comments.

White kids buy the music..that's the majority who buy. And no it's not my opinion..go look at all the top rapper's ages. They not in their mid 20s.

So white kids don't count? Its not just buying, its downloading, discussing, debating the music. It's mostly younger people.

I mean look at the booth, its 95% people under 30 years old
