Jimmy G will be tearing it up this year. Belichick texted him after every game last year after he was traded, which is quite interesting. I wish the Patriots could have gotten more for him, but he'll be tearing up the NFL for years to come. Hopefully, one particular 49er's fan here finally realizes the importance of a QB, but that's doubtful.

Trent Brown looking good in New England so far as well.:banderas:.

Well if want somebody to keep Brady clean brown is your guy, he’s a monster pass blocker. Trading him will haunt the niners

Hoping that it turns into a steal. Looking forward to see Sony Michel run behind that line, and Brown being able to protect Brady.

Jimmy G should have a very good year though.

Armstead hurt his hamstring. Im done with this dude. Put in Sheldon Day who was balling last year and rotate Blair in too. Let Armstead sit on the bench. And we picked up his 5th year option:stopitslime:

Linebackers

Reuben Foster -

Last years draft exploded into the league when he was healthy. He is a dynamite tackler has great closing speed and is equally effective in run and pass game. His major achilles heel seems to be brittle shoulders he has in part due to bis violent tackling style. He's going to need to learn to wrap up or he is going to have a relatively short career. Also that domestic violence scare should and gun charge may cost him a couple of suspensded games. Even so he has elite upside and has the league on notice. If he breaks his bad habits on and off the field he should be a perennial pro-bowler.

Grade: B+

Fred Warner -

UPSET ALERT or maybe not. I expect this rookie to not only make the 53 man roster but start. He has great size at 6'3 240 and it would make sense if he established himself as the starting SAM linebacker. He didn't have a true position in BYU and has something of a rover but in this defense versatility is a strength and he is sneaky good in hitting as well as coverage. This is a great value, imo.

Grade: B

Malcolm Smith -

After nursing a torn pectoral. He seems to be back in good health and ready to go. He's more of a runstopper/cleanup guy. He can play as both a mike and will linebacker depending on need/rotation. But mostly will.

Grade: C+

Brock Croyle-

A pleasant surprise last year. He played well when Navarro Bowman and Foster were out. While he's not a starter he's a very good special teams player and provides depth.

Grade: C

Pita Tamoepenu -

A defensive end turned linebacker. Pita I believe will make a leap this season. While he was listed as a depth linebacker last year. Coaches rave about his athleticism and work ethic. Having put on 10 pounds of muscle he has every chance to supplant Watson and even Eli Harold as the starter.

Eli Harold-

Now in his 3rd year in the league. He hasn't made the impact that a player of his status should have. There have been reports in camp that he looks slow, unprepared and has been routinely embarrassed. I think he gets released this camp at some point as it may make more sense to go with someone either more proven or with more upside.

Grade: D

Kory Toomer-

A rotational player who plays a lot of snaps on special teams. He should make the main roster.

Grade: C-

Dekoda Watson -

Rotational player with value on special teams. Nothing amazing but he is a known quantity and roster filler.

Grade: C-

Mark Nzeocha -

Special teams player. That is where his niche is as I think he's more athlete than football player.

Grade D-

Unit Analysis -

Reuben Foster is an obvious stud and Fred Warner was a draft steal at linebacker. But in years past we have been spoiled. Y having elite or near elite guys across the board and this year is not the case. This draft wasn't stacked at LB but there were some nice free agents we can still look at (bring back Bowman or even Gerald Hodges). Actually Mychal Kendricks makes too much sense as he is a system fit.

Unit Grade: B-

Be butt hurt about a hamstring injury, Garnett is bigger issue right now

I agree about Garnett being terrible so far but Armstead has been hurt since he's been drafted and thats troubling A. Because we used a relatively high draft pick on him. B. He was supposed to be a high snaps player on this defense especially this year.

I've heard reports from training camp saying no one get around the fukking guy (Trent) congrats on getting him under Belicheck he's gonna be a perrennial pro bowler. But we like Jimmy he fits the culture perfectly and aside from talent he seems like a genuinely good dude.

On a side: Our receiving corps is looking brazy this year.

Those shyts never heal correctly and linger well into the season. Garnett was already losing his job to Pearson plus with the contract they gave Cooper they're expecting him to start
I don’t know if it’s the same knee but he can’t afford to miss anytime this camp
