Above the fray.
Even the older MC's had their fair share of folks that were "meh" live. I remember watching the last episode of YO! MTV Raps and Wu-Tang was a snoozefest, but Tribe came on and killed it.

De La Soul is still one of my favorite shows live and those cats are 50 or in their 50's
I caught an early era de la show and they were terrible.
In fact.......they performed on arsenio and were so terrible, he shytted on them......

Pos mentioned that in a verse

"Arsenio dissed us but the crowd kept cheering"

Doobie Doo was right about live shows being make or break moments.
Look up the Tribe performance on Arsenio................Busta RIPPED his Scenario verse and got a record deal STRICTLY based off that.

Its because they care more and most of them was brought up by the era before them

I.E big daddy Kane watched james brown which showed him about costume changes setting mood the back up dancers etc.....

busta was on tour with public enemy while as a youngster with LONS

these younger guys not so much
Definitely. I think a couple things happened w/ Hip Hop as a whole was:
- we had to fight for ppl to respect hip hop as a real genre instead of a fad. So the elders knew they had to bestow that knowledge to the younger gen.
-As rappers started having longer careers., some became selfish w/passing on the gems to the younger gen.
-Not as many in studio, face to face collabs, so the chemistry is lost.
-Fans today also have alot less integrity. They allow it to be comprised on the regular to the point where most feeling like an artist trying to hold on to theirs are being "difficult" or "doin too much"

Went to Eric B. & Rakim show last night...they put on a good show...Rakim knew how to work the stage and crowd....Yo-Yo did her thing too...most of younger MC's shows Ive been to weren't like that for the most part...not saying all young rappers can't put on a show...but it's just different...my question is...is it because the older MC's have had more time to perfect their show or is it the young dudes don't care about their live show as much? Was all kinds of ppl in there...from all walks of life...and Ra had control over them for a brief moment in time...let's discuss....

If I had the time, this was one of several shows I was wanting to attend (a couple more this summer). A few years back, I went to an Art of Rap show, so I know what you're saying...:feedme:
