100%. i think defense is more teachable than offense because of structure (help on the weak side) and rules (no hand checking).

on defense, you're reflecting who you're defending. there are pivotal moves you can make to force him to go left/right but ultimately, if whom you're guarding is a legit scorer, the best you can do is stay in front of him and put a hand in his face. you can only do so much and the game is designed in favor of offense. it's more entertaining (profitable) from a business standpoint.

dunks > blocks

i feel defense is more technical compared to scoring. easier to teach a zone than a Steph Curry stroke...

:dame:
I’m not talking about Offense. I’m talking about defense vs shooting. Because Okoro already has a lot of tools to his offense. He just can’t shoot. And your argument is for team defense which is fair. Teaching a player to fit into your defensive scheme will make them an average defender. One of the reasons i feel like it’s easier to learn to shoot is because you can’t really work on defense in the off season as much as you can shooting. Aside from working on your body mechanics, defense is more about effort and being in game situations. Shooting is something you can build by yourself with a trainer. Obviously it needs to translate in game eventually....

I also don’t think Okoro is the safe pick. His defense is good but he’s a raw offensive player.

Seems to be getting caught in the Jimmy Butler Finals hype.

I don't trust any player getting a Butler comparison. You can't teach or develop what Butler has, you've got it or you don't. I don't see any wings in the 5-8 range that would inspire me to trade up since I'd rather take a shot on Desmond Bane in the 20's.

Why the Knicks do it?
They move up in the draft with both picks from 8 to 5 and 27 to 21. They get a big who could be a excellent mentor to all their youth in Horford, and who fits next to Mitch in Thibs offensive system (the role as a big shooting midrange shots). For taking on the additional salary the Knicks also get a future first rounder that while late is still a 1st rounder

Why the Cavs do it?
They get instant cap relief from Randles shorter/smaller contract that turns into only 4 Mil guaranteed in 2021. They only move down 3 spots in this year’s draft for massive cap relief and get a second rounder (pick #38) back as well.

Why the 76ers do it?
They get Kevin Love a PF who would work in the floor stretching 3pt shooting role they had envisioned for Horford. They swap picks this year with the Knicks to draft at 27 and give up next years picks. A swap and next year’s pick for getting Love isn’t an insane price because they should be a top seed in the East. They pay a relatively low cost to move on from Horford and get the best player involved in the trade.

:ohhh: I like this, I’d do it. We lose Randle and we move up :blessed: and horford can be a good mentor for Mitch

At 5, we might have a shot a Hayes too:gladbron:
