I'm pissed off
I came into this season expecting one thing, and got something else
Anyone with eyes can see RJ struggles heavily with the vets, especially Payton
It was at it's peak w/ Morris because they made a pact to never pass RJ the ball
Did you guys see when he grabbed the rebound and ignored Payton twice to bring up the ball in the 2nd half while bytchass Payton held out his hands for the ball like a bum on the street?
The kid is frustrated and it's sad another team's announcers noticed this but some Knicks fans can't
They just look at the box score and complain about missing out on Zion and Ja
It's not necessarily about shot attempts it's about being involved in the offense enough to get into rhythm
Too many times RJ had the hot hand (like against the Rockets) and his teammates proactively decide to freeze him out but they can give Portis the ball when he's hot though :snoop:

And when he finally does get the ball, he does that thing that every young player does when they haven’t touched the ball in 6 mins, he jacks up a bad shot. This mismanagement of his game and talent is so frustrating.

Not only that, a lot of these guys are fake
They will dap RJ up as well as the other young guys but they are all here to pad their stats for their next pay day
They all freeze RJ out that includes Bullock, Portis, Randle, Payton, and now Harkless
Even DSJ at times who is also trying to stay in the league
When I heard about Morris telling RJ to pass the ball in that player meeting, what he was really saying is stop shining rookie because me and the other vets need to get our stats
That's what that player meeting was really about
It's not a coincidence that all the vets on the team only pass to each other
RJ is not an idiot. He sees he is being frozen out and that's why he aggressively rebounded the ball and completely ignored Payton twice when he asked for the ball
The kid was trying to send a message
He's sick of it

I hate watched last night and didn't pay attention the way I would to deep dive on performances but I do have some recap notes.

- The Knicks got the Hornets on the second night of a back to back and I mentally checked out a bit early on because the Hornets were outworking the Knicks. Most frustrating of all? The hardest work imo came from our youth on the bench all night. Dennis Smith and Mitch especially stood out to me from an effort standpoint. Not to say Smith was particularly good, he struggled, but I could see him fighting. Plus there was that dunk.

- Randle got his numbers and was efficient about it but all the little things we hate were still there. I've never applauded harder than when Breen mentioned that Randle was the high scorer but not playing in the fourth quarter. There's zero coincidence that the comeback happened with Randle benched. His effort comes when an opportunity to check a box score tally is there and wanes every other time. He's not as bad as Kanter there but it's a lot of the same.

- Taj Gibson has been playing pretty well for an extended stint and deserves a spot shout out.

- RJ struggled badly but as others have said, his touches were scattered. He did miss some wide open corner three's in ugly fashion though. The spacing of that starting line-up with Harkless and Payton in there...Fizdale levels of setting your youth up to fail there. Sidenote though, I like Harkless' game and it could be my SJU stanning but I'd be cool bringing him back at a reasonable price. He's one of those "little things" players that I like.

- Mitch in the past couple of games has bullied the hell out of small ball line-ups. I think this is pretty important. There are some really good bigs that can be chased off the floor by coaches going small but not the case for Mitch. Dude was a menace everywhere.

- Zo got in and showed some damned fire. He still had miscommunications on defense that I rolled my eyes at but the guys he had issues with were Harkless (new to the system) and Portis (makes a lot of mistakes) plus he hasn't had the chance to develop defensive chemistry. Offensively he didn't force much, picked his spots and I wanted him taking the ball up instead of Payton by the end of the game.

- Bobby Portis got hot in the second half...still shouldn't be eating Iggy's chances to play NBA talent though.

- Shout out to Macri's SI article for pointing this out...but with the news that Leon Rose is about to take over on Sunday, we've gotten some positive signs of rotation changes. Trier is getting a shot again and Julius Randle got benched while putting up empty stats. That's two steps in the right direction. I'm hoping that we get a quick shift to youth with the rotations once Perry isn't advising on who to play. I want to see Mitch in the starting line-up and RJ in a rotation role where he's surrounded by better spacing. Payton's still the best PG but trim his minutes to let Frank and DSJ both get chances to run the team (preferably Frank with RJ since that allowed RJ to go full attack mode). And call Iggy up to try Portis' role out.

Lamar Peters of the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, set a new single game assists franchise record (19) as the Knicks put the Greensboro Swarm away, 129-115, Wednesday evening at Westchester County Center. The victory severs a six-game skid for Westchester.

Peters tied the Knicks' franchise record against Greensboro (12/14). His record breaking 19 assists tonight were accompanied by 19 points, a trio of triples and four thefts in 35 minutes of action.

New York Knicks assignee, Ignas Brazdeikis, posted a game-high 34 points on 68.4-percent to go along six made three-pointers, six rebounds and five assists. Ivan Rabb's 32 points were scored on 77.7-percent to go along with 12 rebounds, four steals and three blocks.

For the Swarm (8-31), Dwayne Bacon recorded 25 points and sank three perimeter shots. Donte Ingram contributed 17 points off the bench.

Westchester's (17-22) 39 assists establish a new season-high for the club.

The Knicks went up by as many as 21 points in the second quarter and would go up by as many as 22 by the final buzzer.

The Wisconsin Herd visit Westchester Saturday, February 29 at 5 PM ET.

Record time they froze RJ the fukk out @Deep_Black_Conscious :hhh:2-2 driving inside and was looking like he could have a strong 1st q. Hasn't gotten the roc since:mjtf:
how can we evaluate a player being used this way?
he is never in ryhthm when he gets the ball
they don't run plays for him
he has shyt spacing look how incredible westbrook looks now w/ added spacing
but y'all wonder why he hasn't been hitting as a pick like some of y'all want
when this team surrounds him with shooting, high IQ non freezing out players, and runs the offense through him then we can talk about rj's ceiling
He had 14/4/3 against a tough Rockets defense in the 1st quarter but ended up with only 21

Main reason why I wanted the front office to ship out Randle, Portis, Ellington, and Payton. :yeshrug:
