Points that stood out to me?
- Thibs is usually inflexible but he's loosened up for the Knicks and the source they quote says that's because of his trust for Rose.

- The two names mentioned that Thibs would welcome are both returning HC's...the Mikes, Miller and Woodson.

- Thibs does want some of his career long assistants with him. His right hand man worked with him when they both worked under JVG for the Knicks.

- While I always add the disclaimer that I can't imagine it happening; Booker watchers might be interested to here that another likely assistant for Thibs would be coming from the Suns coaching staff.

- Chicago still ain't firing Boylen, not much relevance to us but it does make Lauri an even bigger potential buy-low candidate.

- There's a hint of impatience at the end as a source says what we all were saying last week. It looks like the Knicks always knew who they were going to hire and just wanted to make extra sure. This is really dragging when you consider so many signs have pointed to Thibs from day one.

Mixed signals everywhere. Thibs fluff pieces, Kidd fluff pieces, Kenny pops up outta nowhere for another interview...chaos is our normal, can’t settle in on hating one guy if they float ten names :francis:

Was Thibs ever the front runner?

So the two rumors are

1) this is all to stall so Woj can drop the bomb and as a favor he’ll be more positive to the Knicks

2) Thibs was never the front runner he was a candidate but just like Free Agents he is using the Knicks to build up his profile to go to another team.

Another rumor about the Knicks being interested in an established offensive talent. This one on the surface seems more realistic to me than Booker or Beal. I don't think the demands for Zach would be as crazy as for either of those two and I don't think anyone would be surprised if he asked out. He's also got a really fair contract for someone as talented offensively as he is...but I think it's only right to mention that his defense can be outright frustrating to watch.

One thing that's absolutely clear is that the Knicks probably aren't standing pat. I feel like we've seen far too much speculation about trading for a big boost piece for Rose not to be thinking about turning the Knicks fortunes sooner than later. That's not a bad thing or a good thing; the moves themselves will be the good or bad. But it does make me think he'll be aggressive with the cap space and assets when it's time to move. I assume the draft lottery will help set the trajectory too of course.

On LaVine fit wise? Zach and RJ as the wings is a really promising tandem. You get the guy who stretches the floor and goes over everybody playing next to the guy who can bulldoze his way in and knows has good passing instincts. You can pick your favorite PG from this draft class and there are going to be reasons to like the fit; although LaMelo/Zach on defense could get ugly early. I really LOVE the idea of adding Kira Lewis' speed to Zach's flight and RJ's strength. Also, my guy Frank would fit with the wing combo too. He'd bolster the defense and since those two need the rock; his pass first mentality is a strength (although a draft pick like Haliburton checks these boxes too).

Expand it a bit further and I'd inquire on Lauri too. I referenced it before, but Boylen's system just has not worked for Lauri. But if we pick up a pure stretch 4 with the cap space (Gallo or Bertans); then you could have a big man trio with Lauri as a super sub for both 4/5.

This is probably much ado about nothing though. I'm just bored and we haven't had much Knicks news. Watching other teams play is making me stir crazy too.

I'm a Kidd stan
Jason Kidd is a fukking degenerate. He's on the Derek Fisher level of fukkey. He might not try to fukk RJ's girl but will probably crash a car drunk driving with RJ in it.

It's been a few years now but didn't he fukk over the Nets after they gave him his first coaching job to go to Bucks. And then tried to strong arm his way into being the President/GM and the coach. And then got fired because he tried playing full court press defense. I remember they were trapping the ball all over the place and ended up with one of the worst defenses in the league with Giannis on the team :gucci:

Kidd's game fell off a cliff during the second half of the season, because Woodson and the Knicks did a shyt job of monitoring his minutes during early part of the season. He became a complete non-factor during the playoffs.
JR arguably played better in Cleveland as a 3&D man during their championship year. Talent has never been an issue with dude. Melo basically repeated his 12-13 season the following year when everything else fell apart besides himself. He lucky that he won the scoring title when KD sat out for the rest of the season. (Melo stans :umad:)
While Kidd was a productive key piece for the team, but his overall Knicks impact on JR and Melo is completely overstated. He's a trash coach and trash human being. fukk Jason Kidd :mjlit:

I'm not disputing that. What he did in terms of leadership and play at his age was great.

Also he's obviously great with people/interviews because people keep falling for his shyt. After 3 and a half terrible seasons in Milwaukee and back stabbing Brooklyn he was able to get an assistant role with Lakers.

And now he's apparently the front runner for a head coaching position against much more qualified candidates.
